It’s a good year for Godzilla fans. Earlier this year, MonsterVerse fans got some delicious morsels of cinema’s greatest kaiju when he popped up in Monarch Season 2. But that was just an amuse-bouche for the real main course: the much-anticipated arrival of Godzilla Minus Zero, the latest ‘zilla film from Japan’s Toho studio, and the sequel to 2023’s outstanding Godzilla Minus One. As the film (from Minus One’s returning writer-director-VFX-supervisor Takashi Yamazaki) stomp-stomp-stomps closer to release, there’s good news for UK fans – with release details officially confirmed, and some shiny new stuff to look at too.
First up: the release info. The film is confirmed to head to UK cinemas on November 6, just three days after it lands in Japan (on ‘Godzilla Day’, naturally). And since it was filmed for IMAX, it seems that the film will be getting its share of IMAX screens across the UK and Ireland, as well as regular cinema presentations. Minus Zero also launches in the US on November 6.
As the film’s promotion ramps up, here’s a new poster to feast on, showing the main man himself roaring back into action:

Plus, there’s a new teaser trailer too – but it is very teasery, at only 30 seconds long (shorter than the previous teaser, released a few months back) and still keeping many details under wraps. But we do get a glimpse at several returning characters from Minus One, including Ryunosuke Kamiki’s protagonist Shikishima, Minami Hamabe’s Noriko (who bore a mysterious marking on her neck after her encounter with Godzilla at the end of the last film), and Hidetaka Yoshioka’s fan-favourite scientist / weapons expert. Watch it here:
Exactly what humanity – and Godzilla – will face this time remains to be seen. Will there be another kaiju in the mix? If so, a new creation, or a firm favourite like King Ghidorah or Rodan? Could it be Titanosaurus’ time to shine? And can Minus Zero live up to Minus One, which stands among the greatest Godzilla films ever made, and crashed the Oscars with its VFX win? We’ll find out on November 6.
