Prince Harry is back in the UK this week, supporting The Invictus Games, which he founded. While here, he got chatting to an iconic television presenter, and revealed that his children, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie were big fans of the star – as well as one of the TV programmes she presents.

Today (Friday 10 July), Prince Harry stopped for a chat with This Morning’s Alison Hammond and, during the interview, told her, ‘my kids love you in Bake Off. They absolutely love it.’ Alison took over as presenter on The Great British Bake Off in 2023 and the programme is shown all over the world, including in the United States (where Prince Harry and his family live) under the name, ‘The Great British Baking Show’.

Prince Harry was speaking to Alison from Birmingham, Alison’s home city, where events for the Invictus Games are taking place. Alison asked if Prince Harry was excited about the event’s location and Prince Harry joked that he was ‘not quite as excited’ as she was, adding Alison was ‘very excitable and I love that. Everyone loves that about you.’

During their conversation, Prince Harry confirmed that his family were proud of him and the work that he was doing, and that he was proud of both his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and their two children.

The Prince founded the Invictus Games as a sporting event for former members of the armed forces, who have been injured. Helping kick things off, Prince Harry got stuck in with a number of matches including taking part in pickleball and wheelchair rugby, at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. Next year, the city will host the games (the first time it has returned to the UK since 2014) and today’s ‘1 year to go’ events begin the countdown to the big event.

Prince Harry arrived in the UK earlier this week and was initially thought to be bringing the rest of his family, but arrived solo on Tuesday (6 July). Since welcoming their two children, the Duke and Duchess have maintained their children’s privacy by keeping their faces largely hidden from social media and the public eye, although they do share snippets of their family life together.

Most recently, to mark Father’s Day, Meghan shared a photograph of Prince Harry grinning as he hugs his two children alongside the caption, ‘They’re so lucky to have you.’ A few weeks earlier, the couple were celebrating their oldest child’s birthday as Princess Lilibet turned 5 years old. In a post, the Prince Harry holds his daughter in his arms as Meghan smiles over his shoulder.
