NYC Mayor Mamdani on Taylor Swift paying New York City back for police overtime during her wedding: “Taylor Swift will be paying… has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event.”

The way he answers, he always manages to turn the questions towards New Yorkers and will benefit them. In every single interview I’ve seen so far. It’s so cool.

    2. How about all of the businesses that had to close because customers couldn’t go past the blockade?

I love mamdani but this swift paying nypd gives me mixed feelings…

So… her privilege allowed her to commandeer high volumes of police officers to do security for a pop stars wedding instead of serving nyc???

It doesn’t feel like the brag swift wants it to be

      Mamdani – no notes 💅🏽

    4. It’s very clear there was a budget for Taylor’s wedding. She was doing everything she could to reduce the negative press that could possibly come from what she wanted to do. Definitely not how I would’ve done my wedding, even if I was as rich as her, but she loves a spectacle and while she pretends she doesn’t like the attention, it’s very much her brand to force us to know about every little thing happening in her life.

    5. Well I can’t say if it was actually enough but I’m glad to see the city wasn’t on the hook for the police OT.

Sorry but he’s dodging the question here. Everyone knows she already paid for the permits to get streets closed and all that. What people are wondering is if security for her wedding is included in the $92 million budget for police overtime paid by NYC taxpayers for this summer’s big events.

lol the comments on this sub vs the other one are so much more refreshing and intelligent

    8. This is exactly the kind of environment where my dumb ass would walk up onto a treadmill and not even know

    9. Why would she not pay? She is not hurting for money. It makes no sense why she wouldn’t.

    10. Yeah, as she should. I’m glad Mamdani clarified, but I still won’t be praising a billionaire for fulfilling a BASELINE EXPECTATION. Whether she’d pay back the City for the exorbitant PRIVATE use of a PUBLIC resource….should never have been a question in the first place.
