As Karolína Muchová looks to win her first Grand Slam at Wimbledon today, her parents Josef Mucha and Hana Muchová will be supporting her.

Josef Mucha, born in Prostějov, Czechoslovakia on July 10, 1967 (he turned 59 yesterday!), is a former professional soccer player. He played for 11 seasons in the Czech First League, and now works as as a coach, and is currently the head coach for the U-19 team for SK Sigma Olomouc.
“Karolína and [my] son Filip [Much] grew up with me when I was a football player and they played more sports,” Josef said in a 2024 interview. “Kája is good at many sports. We still have a basketball ball, a handball ball, badminton rackets, and squash rackets in the basement. They were both good at everything.” Karolína’s brother, Filip Mucha, is a goalkeeper for SK Hanácká Slavia Kroměříž.
Karolína credits her dad for her interest in tennis. “My father played professional soccer in the first league in Czech. My brother and I did many sports when we were kids,” she said. She added of Josef, “ he taught us how to move. We were looking up at him, going for football matches to cheer on him.”
Josef is a tennis player, too, though he never played professionally. “I like to play tennis, it’s a great complementary sport. Actively, I think, this is the only one, roller skating, and cycling in the summer,” he said in 2024. He enjoys watching his daughter play, adding, “I like the world of tennis, it’s a bit different than football, a different world.”

There’s less information available online about Karolína’s mom, Hana, but she regularly appears on Karolína’s Instagram, suggesting she frequently travels with her daughter on tour.
