Did she carry the group or was she basically the only one that got singing parts? lol

The 90s R&B group Immature, with Marques Houston being the only solid singer. I think Romeo occasionally rapped and LDB played drums, but Marques was by far the one handling all of the harmonies
I was initially going to say Jodeci as a semi-related example with K-Ci & JoJo handling the vocals while Dalvin and DeVante specialized in the songwriting & production, but they were at least decent during some performances where I heard their vocals
Gary Barlow in Take Thatâs first run – the others got a song or two but the band was set up with him as the creative lead writing the songs and getting ready for a solo career. Second run less so – even Jason Orange got a couple album track solos.Â

Jackson 5. Come on, name a track that wasn’t Michael on lead that was good enough for the greatest hits?

CLAIRE aka Claire From Steps⢠the others did sing too but she carried them on her back with them pipes

Vocally at least, Hall & Oates

Camila in Fifth Harmony comes to mind. I think they were pretty vocally matched overall but she had a unique sound and was seemingly given free reign to outsing all of them in every performance

Nadine Coyle in Girls Aloud. Granted, Nicola eventually got her flowers and found her niche as a Sophie Ellis-Bextor-esque singer-songwriter and fashion girl, but Nadine was THE voice of the band.

Unpopular opinion but: It was stated by ex PCD members that Nicole would not let the others sing. Like at all unless they’re back up vocals or have 1-2 lines only. Then there’s also that famous video where she got hella jealous of one of the girls belting and doing great solo adlib during a stage performance. This woman was a menace to work with. i was a passing PCD fan and yet the fact that i can’t remember the name of the rest of the girls tells you how less they got the spotlight.

Especially in the last album, Harry Styles got a lot more of the lines than the rest of 1D even though Liam and Zayn were the stronger vocalists. To his credit, his voice did have a charisma to it that makes up for not being as technically great.

I read this question as who carried the vocal group as in who did the most singing. For me it was The Supremes with Diana Ross and Jackson 5 with MJ. Those were the first two who came to mind.

Faye from PLAY – Janet was good on their last album but it was not the same! Iâve always loved Fayeâs voice and I wish she had done more solo work.

Old school example but Ronnie Spector basically *was* The Ronettes. Â She actually recorded all the vocal parts on âBe My Babyâ
