Prince Harry revealed a touching way he, his wife, Duchess Meghan, and their two children honor his late mother, Princess Diana.
During a Q&A session at Scotty’s Summer Festival at Maxstoke Castle in Warwickshire, England, Harry revealed how he commemorates Diana on her birthday, July 1, or on the anniversary of his mother’s death, Aug. 31.
“Yes, we do lemon drizzle cake,” Harry said. “I think traditions are really, really important. Especially when they’re sweet.”
The Duke of Sussex, 41, has long spoken publicly about grieving his mother, who died in a 1997 car crash while fleeing paparazzi in Paris.

In the 2021 picture book “Hospital by the Hill,” Harry wrote that losing his mother at age 12 was something he didn’t want to believe or accept, and that it “left a huge hole inside of me.” He said that over time, that hole was filled with so much love and support.

Prince Harry returns to UK – See his visit amid royal family tension

Prince Harry’s visit to the United Kingdom has been highly anticipated – and widely expected to be a strained one, given the ongoing rift between the duke and the rest of the royal family. The prince, whose visit marks one year until the Invictus Games 2027, has not seen father King Charles III since September. His wife Meghan and their children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, have not set foot on British soil as a family of four since 2022.

He and Meghan’s children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, reunited with their grandfather, King Charles, and Queen Camilla on July 10, according to the BBC. The reunion took place at Highgrove House, Camilla and Charles’ private country residence in Gloucestershire, England, Buckingham Palace told the outlet.
Their visit is particularly significant, as the prince and his wife have continued to raise serious security concerns since stepping back from their senior royal roles and moving to California in 2020. Before July 10, the king had not seen his grandchildren in four years, and Meghan had not visited England since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022.
As part of the trip, Harry has also visited children at the local hospital and taken part in goat yoga at Scotty’s Summer Festival.
