Monica Lewinsky posts about how Lindsey Graham’s work to prove there was a smear campaign against her from within the White House during the 1998 impeachment of Bill Clinton was healing for her and her family despite her disagreements with his “choices and beliefs”

A broken watch is right twice a day? He wasn’t doing it for you honey he was doing it for the GOP. I mean we can take justice however we get it but that doesn’t mean credit is due. IMO 🤷♀️
I normally like Monica but she is missing the point here. His actions and choices may have been healing for her, but his actions and choices harmed countless others just because they happened to be born in one of the many countries he wanted to start a war in.

Listen, I hated the fuck out of Lindsey Graham, but one thing I am not gonna do, ever, is deny Monica Lewinsky any bit of peace she’s able to find. Her memories and experiences are her own.
I do wish she’d leave fuckin twitter though.
She’s speaking about a trauma that she was a victim of. I think she’s allowed to talk about it however and whenever she likes. There’s nothing here she’s said that was wrong
No reason to bring up the one “good” thing that racist, sexual abuser did the second he dies
Dude still went to the devil and I couldn’t be happier. Rest in Piss.
The reason for doing something doesn’t change the fact of whether that thing happened or not.
People are complex and contain multitudes. There’s always an urge to paint most people as wholly good or wholly bad, but I think we might do well to remember most people are a combination of both, and someone might be a deeply kind person in a micro level and then a damaging on on a macro level.
Lewinsky is allowed to talk about actions that helped her, regardless of the reasons, even if most of us find his overall legacy deeply disturbing.
a broken clock is right twice a day. And sometimes horrible people can do the right/good thing for bad reasons.
People who are saying that she can feel her own feelings are right, but why did she need to say this aloud/post it?
Why mention one good thing he did for the wrong reason?
She’s a class act.
Such poise and grace after everything she’s been through.
Honestly valid.
Impressed by the ability of many to not allow anything to get in the way of their hate. Makes everything very easy, very black and white.
When someone usually bad does something that even inadvertently has a positive effect, the bad stuff is still the only thing that matters to them.
He did 1 good thing okay. But he also caused harm to so many people.
He used her pain as pawn! If she is so righteous she should acknowledge that. These are not times where we should become asshole apologists.
I just learned a new word.
I LOLed at how many times she copied and pasted that exact response to everyone who reminded her that he didn’t anything for her sake but for his own personal career’s sake. She should’ve just kept this to herself imo but whatever, her twitter is her twitter and replies are coming in accordingly.
Some people are seriously so weird and cowardly about generally bad people dying. They always try to find some kind of silver lining about their character and I think it’s more about the guilt they feel about being kinda happy that these assholes croaked vs. being “kind” or “compassionate.”
Obviously she’s allowed to talk about her own experiences, but what was the point of saying this if ultimately, as she even acknowledges, he was an evil person who wasn’t even doing it for her?
Monica had affairs with at least 2 other married men before Bill
has somehow turned sleeping with married men into a vicitmhood career and
all the feminists treat this extemely privledged narcissist who never cared about hurting woman when she went from married men as the victim.
She even said herself flashed herself Bill and was throwing herself at him btw
if genders were reversed it would be sexual harresment,
its not like she was pressured or harresed into affair or whatever but
shes somehow act like homewrecker mistress from great rich family who always supported and helped her throughout is some huge sufferer.
All the suffering going on in the world people
loosing their lives, limbs, getting paralyzed in Gaza or
even homeless people and people who have had genuine hardship though no fault of their own but
Monica Lewinsky is somehow this victim for being a mistress to feminists,
if some decades younger woman was having affair with your man while your middle aged
I wonder much sympathy and love you would have for the mistress, maddening.
I’m so tired of people falling over themselves to be nice to genuinely awful humans that end up dying. Not everyone deserves our grace just because they’re not alive anymore. Especially politicians who made their entire career one in which they’ve done everything to benefit themselves, at the expense of literally millions of innocent people.
I’m Canadian and saw Mark Carney post something about Graham as well, and I was truly baffled as to why his office would even bother. This we go high bullshit is exhausting.
People forget that bad people can do good things (and good people can do bad things).
She went through hell, and I am glad she found some comfort in his actions, no matter his motivation.
God I get so fucking worked up when ANYONE fucks with Monica.
Also, rest in shit, LG.
We all live in the murky, grey, complicated space in this world often enough. I’ve enjoyed Monica’s podcast, she’s gone through so much, and she’s still going. I appreciate her ability to sit in that uncomfortable space and speak her authentic truth. Graham was terrible, he was also human. When it’s dark, the slimmest sliver of light can do more than one might think.
She “didn’t whitewash his history”, but she sure as hell glossed over it.
The Mythbusters have already proven that you can shine shit, Monica. You didn’t have to try to do it again.
What the fuck does she mean “there was a smear campaign against her from the WH”?
You can buy an amputee kid a state of the art prosthetic leg because you’re a good person. Or you can do it because you want to make content out of it. The kid still gets the prosthetic leg.
Just to run the chain of logic here, she knows that he was exploiting her but she feels the need to defend his legacy. He didn’t really stop any of the abuse that has been thrown at her for the last three decades, but since he used her as a political prop when she was vulnerable she likes him.
If anything, I think her defense has made me hate him more.
I imagine I’d also feel somewhat grateful in her shoes.
Terrible people can do nice things for people, and acknowledging that does nothing to excuse their other actions. Plenty of people are celebrating this death. It doesn’t matter if Lewinsky’s one of them
Edit: ooo, shocker, the babies don’t like nuance or opinions that don’t align exactly with theirs
This is a weird and tone-deaf post from her. She’s a bright individual. She’s well-aware that he didn’t do this out of personal kindness or a sense of moral decency, but rather out of pure partisanship and a desire to destroy Clinton. So what’s her point? That cruel people doing cruel things can sometimes accidentally benefit someone else?
Sorry to her for everything that happened but “the enemy of my enemy is my friend even if he’s the kind of person to destroy democracy and the lives of billions of people” isn’t the great take she thinks it is.
And her reply to the other post leads me to believe this is just trolling/rage bait.
Maybe I’m just a weirdo, but most of the time if someone does something genuinely good and helpful for someone or a group of people with no catch or strings attached, I don’t really care about the motivation of it all. I don’t really care if it’s out of legitimate care or compassion, or if it’s because “it’s just a good career/political move.” Of course I like to think it’s due to being a good person, but even if it’s just a PR move or career boost, that doesn’t just… Take the good thing away.
Monica, again showing more class than so, so, so many people who think they’re somehow better than her.
Funny how he didn’t seem to care when Newt Gringrich was doing the same thing…
A terrible person does one good thing lol
Both things can be true
1. He’s a piece of shit
2. He helped her when she was in a position no one should ever been in
Neither one changes the other
Didn’t he do that to point the attention away from the Mossad whose operation it was ?
Why does Monica Lewinsky feel she has to have an opinion on this?
Good for her, but Lindsey Graham was one of the most vile members of congress of all time. May he rest in piss.
