Emmerdale star Jack Downham has completed an impressive feat for charity ahead of his departure from the soap. The actor, who plays Noah Dingle, flew on the wing of a plan to raise money for Cure Usher Syndrome.

Jack shared a video of himself completing the challenge on Instagram and wrote: “Flew on the wing of a plane today for an amazing cause… Check my story for the link to donate, every little really does help!”

He took on the challenge alongside co-stars Matthew Wolfenden, Lawrence Robb and Bradley Riches.

Cure Usher Syndrome aims to raise funds and awareness for the rare genetic disease that causes hearing and vision loss.

Jack’s Emmerdale co-star Laura Norton (who plays Kerry Pollard) and her husband, actor Mark Jordon are patrons of the charity, with both of their children, Jesse and Ronnie, having been diagnosed with the rare condition.

On the challenge’s Just Giving page, the actors wrote: “Our good friends Mark and Laura are patrons for Cure Usher Syndrome which raises funds for research into a cure for sight loss with Usher syndrome. Usher syndrome is the leading cause of genetically inherited hearing and sight loss.

“Mark and Laura’s children Jesse and Ronnie both have Usher Syndrome and we are all on a quest to raise money to go into research to find a treatment for them and all others living with dual sensory loss. Every little helps and they are so close to finding a treatment. We need your help!!”

Commenting on Jack’s post, Laura wrote: “You’re a superstar thank YOU so much,” while Mark added: “Super proud. Thank you.”

Earlier this week it was reported that Jack’s character Noah had been axed from Emmerdale, after 17 years on the soap. Jack, who has played Charity’s son since he was six years old, is the latest reported departure amid a major cast shake-up on the show.

The Sun reports that Jack has already filmed his final scenes and will leave on screen in the coming weeks. Recent scenes have seen Noah confide in his stepdad Mackenzie Boyd that he’s considering applying for jobs abroad.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
