    1. >A media expert offered a grim diagnosis of CBS News’ “turmoil” under Bari Weiss and noted it’s hitting record lows.

      >During an interview posted by Offline on Saturday, Oliver Darcy, a former CNN reporter and the founder of Status, laid out how CBS News is struggling under Bari Weiss, its conservative editor-in-chief.

      >”They are collapsing on every front,” Darcy said. “CBS Evening News has hit historic low ratings. They struggle now to get four million viewers on the evening news, which would have been unthinkable just even a year ago.”

      >The CBS Evening News is led by Tony Dokoupil, whom critics consider a MAGA voice and a handpicked disciple of Weiss. It’s also come under fire for ditching its 38-page ethics handbook for a five-point patriotic statement. It’s not the only CBS News program struggling with ratings, Darcy added.

      >”The CBS morning show with Gayle King is hitting all-time low ratings,” Darcy said. “They are on pace to have posted their worst June of all time. They posted the worst May of all time ratings.”

      >Under Weiss, the CBS flagship news program, 60 Minutes, has suffered from public feuds and firings and “no longer resembles what we know 60 Minutes to be,” Darcy said.

      >”Anderson Cooper is gone. Cecilia Vega is gone. Sharyn Alfonsi is gone. Scott Pelley is gone. The executive producer is gone. The executive editor is gone,” Darcy said. “That show is no longer what it once was. It carries the name forward, but that’s probably about it at this point.”

      >Darcy concluded, “Those three main shows are all in turmoil,” and those are “the three programs you would really judge Bari Weiss on.”

    2. They have an audience of one. As long as Trump approves it will keep on going as it is

    3. I was going to comment but others said what needed to be expressed. She’s merely doing what she got hired to do.

    4. Isn’t that the plan?

Reduce news options until you only have one “reliable” source that the government has full control over.

This is exactly what the billionaires paid for.

They will never be Maga enough for the maga crowd, and they pissed off their traditional viewers in the middle who just wanted them to keep telling it “the way it is.” Not telling them the way Trump wants it to be told.
If people wanna get their biased state propaganda, they already had Fox News and Newsmax and oan.

Amazing what 150 million will buy you. Right Larry? Her dog shit media company sure was not worth 150 million dollars.

I stopped watching all CBS NEWS …even Sunday Morning and Face the Nation. I avoid CBS as much as possible on other programming… same with Fox

Billionaire media does not need ratings, it doesn’t need to make money. It needs to misinform and manipulate the masses.

    9. The dumbing down of American media continues. CNN is next I’m afraid. Who needs legitimate news when we have social media telling us what we want to hear based on their algorithms and thus testing our society apart.

    10. I actively avoid all CBS News links to any story. It’s just like clicking on a Fox News link for me. A few years ago, the gathering of news sources within CBS to assemble a story was a sight to see on Slack. I can’t imagine what a travesty it would look like today.

The only thing besides sports we watch on network tv is “Survivor” and “The Amazing Race”. We happily paid the monthly fee to Paramount +. The shit that’s happening at CBS is shameful. At some point Trump will be gone and they will never recover from what they have done. Regardless of any changes. Needless to say, we have canceled Paramount+.

    12. It’s almost like someone who is supremely and unequivocally unqualified to run a media network cannot run a media network.
      Shocking.

    13. The idea of relying on two state-controlled media outlets, Fox and CBS, was always a risky move.

    14. You reap what you sow. She has taken the news department down a path that most don’t see as journalism.

Large media companies are clearly in a consolidation process over the past decade. This admin has accelerated the behavior.

I recommend to anyone who has not seen it to go watch ‘Nerwork’ (Sidney Lumet, Paddy Chayefsky, 1976). Not only is it greatly informative and pertinent but it is wildly entertaining.

Cancelled Paramount+ and haven’t watched the local CBS station since she took over.
