Prince Harry is coming off a pivotal week, and it appears he may have put one problem to rest while inadvertently creating another, according to a royal commentator.
Speculation had been rife over whether Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet would join him in the UK, and ultimately the family made it work. The Sussex family reunited with King Charles at Highgrove on Friday, July 10, and now that the dust has settled, the visit may have left Harry longing for his former life.
Royal commentator Jane Barr of From Berkshire to Buckingham believes Harry is now pining for the life he left behind. Despite this, Harry still isn’t close with his brother, Prince William.
“This must have been very emotional for Harry, who is obviously desperate to return to his old life,” Barr wrote in her Substack.
“He was raised at Highgrove, after all. I bet this whole trip makes him more angsty than ever,” she continued.

Harry’s visit was an emotionally charged affair.
It was eventually confirmed that Meghan, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, would be joining the Duke of Sussex in London. Though the arrangements came together at the last minute, King Charles ensured he was available to receive them.
Barr reflected on what the experience must have meant for the King and how he handled such a sensitive reunion.
“He invited them to his sanctum, but it also is not a flashy palace or even one of the super exclusive private residences that carry special mystique, like Balmoral,” she noted. Regarding Harry and Charles, both appeared satisfied with how matters developed, yet when it came to Meghan, Barr suggests a contrasting narrative – that the Duchess of Sussex may have felt disappointed due to forfeiting certain status symbols.

“Meghan can’t be easy breezy about how great it was to visit Balmoral this summer,” wrote Barr.
While Highgrove may not possess the magnificence of Buckingham Palace, it is hardly humble, and provides substantial benefits, particularly the seclusion that has consistently been a top priority for Meghan.
From an external perspective, the familial aspect of the visit seems to have been successful, yet it prompts more questions than it resolves – which is exactly what has royal fans so captivated.
What happens next remains unclear, but Harry is likely relishing the experience, valuing it for what it represents – a chance for his children to spend meaningful time with their grandfather.
