Zoë Kravitz has yet to sign on for The Batman Part II, with Robert Pattinson still the only actor locked in under contract for the October 2027 release. Matt Reeves has since confirmed a wave of new additions to the cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, Sebastian Koch and Charles Dance, while Kravitz reportedly weighs other acting and directing projects.

Robert Pattinson remains the only actor locked into a contract for The Batman Part II. Zoë Kravitz, who first slipped into the Catwoman suit back in 2022, hasn’t put pen to paper for a return, and insiders suggest she isn’t in any hurry to do so. Meanwhile Matt Reeves has been busy stacking his cast with names like Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, Sebastian Koch and Charles Dance. Whether Selina Kyle makes the trip to the October 2027 release, or whether Gotham’s next chapter tells her story without her, remains an open question.

Selina Kyle’s future in Gotham is up in the air. According to an insider cited by People, Zoë Kravitz, who played the role for the first time in 2022’s The Batman, has not signed on for the sequel. “Zoë does not have a deal to appear in The Batman Part II yet,” the source said. Warner Bros. is reportedly courting her, but the actor is in no hurry to commit.

Robert Pattinson remains the sequel’s only sure thing

Robert Pattinson is, as of the report, the only actor with a signed contract to return as Bruce Wayne. Matt Reeves is back in the director’s chair, and the film is slated for October 2027, which leaves the studio some runway to lock down the rest of its lineup.

A heavyweight cast is already assembling in Gotham

Kravitz’s hesitation has not slowed the recruiting elsewhere. Reeves has officially confirmed several new cast additions, and the roster reads like an awards-season guest list:

Scarlett Johansson, in a role the studio has yet to reveal
    Sebastian Stan
    Brian Tyree Henry
    Sebastian Koch
    Charles Dance

None of their characters have been announced, which has fueled plenty of speculation about where the sequel is headed. The lineup confirms Batman’s pull: the franchise keeps drawing some of the most in-demand names in Hollywood, deal or no deal with its Catwoman.

Why Kravitz might walk away from the suit

The insider offers a plausible explanation for the stalemate. At 36, Kravitz reportedly has multiple acting opportunities on her plate, along with ambitions to direct again after her feature debut behind the camera. “If she wants to play Catwoman again and if she’s motivated, she can make it happen. But Zoë might be too cool for that,” the source said.

Some outlets have already begun mapping out scenarios in which the sequel moves forward without Selina Kyle, a possibility that would reshape the emotional core Reeves built in the first film. Cameras are set to roll ahead of the film’s October 2027 release, leaving a narrowing window for Kravitz to sign on before production begins.
