      Too bad all the people in the government who could have been tracking this sooner got fired.

      I threw away some strawberries I just got, didn’t want to risk it since I’m allergic to the antibiotic they use for this.

      Why is the focus on Taco Bell when it’s actually a produce issue? It’s not just Taco Bell’s produce that is infected, and btw this parasite comes from human excrement, so this outbreak means some parasite-infected human excrement got all over some fruits and veggies, and it’s not just Taco Bell that’s having this problem. I feel like the article should be focusing on the food production system and the lack of regulations, not a fast food chain that was one of many receivers of infected produce.

      PSA for people who are worried about recently purchased fresh produce: cooking it will kill the cyclospore!

      If you have berries or other fruit, making compote at home is an easy recipe. Wash the fruit, chop it into bite sized pieces if needed, simmer it in a pot with some water and sugar (or another sweetener) until the liquid is thick. Pop it in the fridge to cool and then use it as a condiment on ice cream, yogurt, oatmeal, etc.

      Michigan resident here. It’s the supplier, likely Taylor Farms. Taco Bell is one of a handful of restaurants and grocery stores that are all part of the investigation. It’s not going to end up being Taco Bell’s fault as though some TB employee didn’t wash their hands.

      I think it’s psychosomatic but the more I read about this parasite the more I am questioning if my menstrual cramps today are, in fact, menstrual cramps! I don’t eat at Taco Hell but I eat loads of (organic) greens. ugh.

      Deregulation is a scourge on society. I hope there’s a HUGE class action lawsuit against the federal govt over this. sue the bastards.

      Taco Bell has had this kind of adverse bowel reaction for over 30 years. I find it hard to believe that all of a sudden we care about the slop they are serving.
