I grew up with the Stones as they kind of grew up during their hay-day as a kid in California during the late-60s. I didn’t really have the most structured upbringing, and I probably am far from able to speak about what the culture was like at London at the time when they were growing up, but damn, these guys really captured the energy against the status quo of the time and got considerable backlash from a lot of parents.
These guys are still absolute legends and its beyond me how they to this day still are bringing out music that is top-notch. I say all of this as an old-fart but and these guys are still out releasing music and touring
>Speaking to Conan O’Brien on the latest episode of the *Conan Needs A Friend* podcast, Jagger recalled how The Stones were viewed as “bad”, “dirty”, “scary”, and “shouldn’t be allowed”, which he said “was just kind of press stuff.”
>He added, “People were really welcoming in most places. But there was a group that were really not welcoming. But maybe they didn’t know who you were, but they would just shout names at you.”
>“So it was very polarised in a kind of modern way,” Jagger added, before explaining of their image, “Just the look of you, which, when you look at the pictures, it’s pretty normal.”
>Although Jagger says their look was “very tame” by today’s standards, he noted that “in those days it wasn’t.” He continued, “Especially in the US, when we first went there, I’d say 64, outside of New York and LA, we were like freaks for them.”
They were my favorite when the British Invasion started over the Beatles when it kicked off. It was the beginning of metal
Just saw this clip on Twitter and have been seeing a lot of the rollout and listening to the the new album and I have to say all the memes and jokes are about Keith with living forever, but this guy is also very sharp for his age, especially with the music. If you hear his falsettos on Jealous Lover, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about
Growing up with these guys since the Ed Sullivan days, it was the Beatles were the good, clean cut boys and the Rolling Stones were the rag tag
bad boys from England. Sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll. They played it that way. There were stories about Keith Richards, but it didn’t matter because they still kicked ass on stage. I enjoyed the hell out of all their music and am still a fan.
I can’t stand them or him
Still are in a way. Not for the music but what they’ve bragged about doing to underage girls
I remember a variety show from the 60s when the Stones appeared, the host introduced them then held onto his nose. (I just looked it up, Red Skelton.)
