Captain Sully Announces Alzheimer’s Diagnosis, 17 Years After ‘Miracle of the Hudson’ Flight

    Captain Chesley ‘Sully’ Sullenberger reveals he has Alzheimer’s disease, confirming in a statement, ‘It is early stage.’ He was diagnosed in August 2025 and explains, ‘I am in the beginning of this long journey.’ The 75-year-old became known as a hero in 2009, after saving 155 US Airways passengers from a crash by successfully landing in New York’s Hudson River.
