The Eiffel Tower marked Bastille Day with a tribute celebrating 250 years of U.S. independence: The display featured the colors of the American flag and imagery of the Statue of Liberty.

It’s pretty cool that the French helped with the American revolution after their own revolutions. It’s why Rioting is seen as relatively normal in the bigger cities as a form of protest. Also I think the colours are just a coincidence as the French Flag is also Red, White, and Blue, and its significance in Bastile Day and the French Revolution.

Awww France. This is so kind – thank you! Hope we start deserving this love from you soon <3

    3. It’s very generous of them to remember our partnership from back in the day. I wonder if they’d be down to mess some stuff up again.

If you think 4th of July is wild.

Bastille Day (and really the whole week) in Paris is one of the most insane things I’ve ever experienced.

      France knows how to party.

It’s weird how cultural differences show up in those kinds of things, but it was such a different vibe.

    5. Aren’t “the colors of the American flag” the same as “the colors of the French flag”?

Did an official confirm this? Because I can’t see why France would pick one of their most important dates to honour the US in its current state.

The Statue of Liberty is technically French, since it was a gift from France. This could very well be France’s way of reclaiming what’s theirs, from a country that doesn’t deserve it right now.

Also, the French flag has the same colors as the American flag, as do several other countries. So that’s moot.

Im just so depressed here. I hate this govt I hate the ma gas so much.

Budgets are cut so I dunno how I will do bsn school. Explosive diarrhea in fresh fruits and veggies bc budgets cut. Watching an abuser remain president. People getting kidnapped en masse.

This is nice to see a little.

They helped us win our independence once. Maybe we could follow their lead in overthrowing the oligarchy. Who’s ready to pile their trash in front of Bezo’s home????

      Merci, France! Happy Bastille Day!

That’s really cool. That’s my 250th celebration and a needed reminder that we honor the initial hope that we could self-govern and could overthrow a distant king who steals our money and makes our lives worse.

And I loved that the French WC team’s alternate jersey was a pale green to honor the Statue of Liberty.

No matter where you’re from, it’s hard not to appreciate a display like this

I’m late to the party but, France, we love you. What an awesome tribute and show!
