The up-and-comer is currently working as the female lead in the Telugu film, Idupukayitham , produced by filmmaker Sukumar. Naga Durga , who made her film debut in the Telugu film Kalivi Vanam (2025), recently set foot in the Tamil industry with Love Oh Love alongside Pavish . She tells us that acting wasn’t part of her original plan; being a folk artiste was.“I did my master’s in Kuchipudi; I’m doing a PhD in it, and I also teach it. Once I entered the Telangana folk industry, my songs went viral, and I started getting film offers. I didn’t initially think of getting into films. But I thought, I’d give it a try. Even Magesh sir ( Love Oh Love ’s director) approached me after seeing one of my reels,” she begins.Speaking about her Tamil debut, the actress shares, “Avantika, my character in the film, is a bubbly Gen Z girl who seeks love in her life. In real life, though, I’m Gen Z who’s old school.”Admitting that the biggest challenge she faced here was language-related, the actress says, “I was nervous because I didn’t know Tamil. I’ve only watched Telugu-dubbed Tamil films. Now, I understand Tamil, but can’t speak it fluently.” Sharing that she got the script in Tanglish, Naga Durga says, “I’m the kind of person who wants to say the dialogue exactly the way it’s intended and I prepare so much to get it right.”She says the support from her costars helped calm her nerves. “Initially, I had to take many retakes, and I kept wondering what my co-artistes would think. When I had a scene with Vanitha (Vijayakumar), Pavish, and Selvaraghavan sir, I got nervous. But they were supportive and said, ‘It’s OK. Take your time.’ All of them, along with KS Ravikumar sir, knew Telugu, so they made me feel comfortable. Also, Pavish is very down-to-earth.
