I saw it yesterday and thought it was great.

christ like? really? the odyssey predates the stories of the bible by centuries. mythology is always inspired by previous mythology that came before it. roman myths werent the only ones to take from greek myths. norse and christian myths too. i like the rest of the review but this annoyed me
This was better than the godfather
I saw it last night. My craziest take is that I think Robert Pattinson was miscast, or over-acted, or maybe it was just the bad accent. Whichever it is, it took me out of the film.
It’s a crazy take for me because I usually love watching him. I even loved Mickey 17.
It’s a beautiful film and has many incredible sequences and performances, but I thought the heart of this film was completely missing. It’s more about a man feeling responsible for the end of an era of civilization than it is a story of a man just wanting to see his family.
I think the Nolan hype is getting to levels not supported by the actual film. To be fair, for anyone else, this may be one of the best films they ever make. I think he’s done better with The Dark Knight still being his most emotional film and Oppenheimer being his best execution and I think we can look forward to even better films from him.
I think the world sucks so much that we are all grateful to have this distraction and I certainly appreciate Nolan for delivering. Definitely worth the price of a $20 ticket.
It’s about the same level as his last film: Fine, but too long and nothing special, really. Unfortunately, the A-list cast ruins the immersion, making it feel more like Game of Thrones than historical realism.

Honestly, what sucks is I’m very suspicious of these reviews. Most all of entertainment and media is currently entrenched in “culture war” dialogue.
One side is losing their mind that Helen is black, the other side is clamoring to say this version with a diverse cast is the best thing they’ve ever seen. Meanwhile, I just want to watch a good take on the Odyssey.
If this is a good telling, then I’m in. If it’s not, then I’m out. Pretty simple.
Please tell me the women are written well too? Because this is Nolan after all

absolutely scintillating work by mr nolan…..take a bow matt damon who was fab🙌🏻 but anne and tom holland simply blew me away in the 3rd act ✨✨✨✨✨
Saw this last night in the good IMAX and was blown away. The story is going to be familiar (obviously) but I felt like the non-chronological story telling and nesting doll structure kept the movie from feeling like a long meandering journey. One of those movies that will be an instant general population classic that’s on some cable channel in rotation forever and will suck you in.

I watched it last night. It was well paced enough, that if they had gone another thirty minutes I would’ve been okay with it. (It has been a while since I’ve read the story, but it cuts at least an hour worth of things.)
His adaptation is based on Emily Wilson’s translation.
I really loved Penelope’s wrath. In one particular conversation, she looks at Telemachus with such bitterness and contempt. It is frightening and majestic at the same time.
I am the only one who thinks this film looks a bit meh?
And I’m a huge Nolan fan.
Absolutely loved it. I really liked the portrayal of Agamemnon, his character just felt so ominous and formidable, it is hard to describe. I also felt there was just the right amount of creepiness and realism with the monsters/magic.
Looking forward to seeing this eventually, but, Nolan is always complaining about watching movies on tv instead of theaters… now when he makes a movie, only like a dozen theaters in America can project it properly….. he’s kinda wack for this.
