BRING BACK CURLS. I have natural ringlet, curly hair, and I chopped it off to a pixie for a couple of years. While I absolutely loved how easy it was to manage (truly life changing), I missed my curls so much that I’m growing it out now.

Genuinely, such a sad loss. I love a woman with an absolute lion’s mane of curly hair.

    3. The last picture of Mariah is one of my favorite photos of her ever, she looks absolutely jaw dropping

I have wavy hair… have they done anything to get it like this? Or is it just natural and I should give up my dreams?

It’s curious how some shots become so iconic. Like that one of Mariah from SNL. That is the image that comes to mind when I think of her. Not an album cover or a magazine. Tell me what smarties.

    6. Omg I don’t think I knew Lauren Graham had curly hair! That honestly explains the way her hair looks in Gilmore Girls. Like, her hair doesn’t look bad at all, but something about it always seemed slightly stiff.

    7. Mariah’s curls were so otherworldly, like her voice. Just a natural beauty all around

    8. Wow! Are those natural or are some of them perms? As a straight haired girly I cannot identify the difference. They all look fab and I wish I could experience curly hair for a moment

Every time I see a curly haired woman out in the world, I complement them. Encouragement is key to keeping curls alive!

Well, I don’t know if this affects everybody… but after I had my Children, my curls fell out.
If I put in a lot of effort, product, and use a diffuser, they’ll look OK (but nowhere close to how they were when I was younger and didn’t have children) and they last for a few hours and then they fall out. Then I just have weird greasy half stringy hair that looks like crap.

Maybe that’s what this is all about?

Forever my hair inspo! Later seasons had some not so great Carrie hair moments but when it was good it was SO good

I read a book by Jean Godfrey June who was a famous beauty editor, and she said that people always try for texture they don’t have with their natural hair. So curly haired people will squash it absolutely flat. And my sister with beautiful silky black hair keeps roughening it because it doesn’t ‘hold volume’ according to her. Ugh it makes me mad.

Mariah Carey with her curly hair lives in my head rent free. Shes always been beautiful but her natural curls suits her features so well. I wish more women kept their natural hair

    14. As part of my Sam Neill memorial week, I’m rewatching Dead Calm from 1989 and Ms. Kidman’s curls were fabulous!

FYI: Dead Calm is still a banger. When I saw Titanic a few years later I immediately knew Billy Zane would cause trouble on that boat. Never get on a boat with Billy Zane!

I’m going to paraphrase a comment I saw on a Zendaya post with her new bob:

No, you shouldn’t get that perm.

Speaking has someone whose mom took them from a 70s Dorothy Hamill to a Sarah Jessica Parker in the 80s, a perm will never look like natural curls.

    16. “Curls are ugly and lazy” something I’ve always heard so I straightened my hair. It’s taken some time but I learned to love my curls and slowly they have started to bounce back.

middle aged curly girl here who spent a lot of my younger years hating my curls. thank you for giving me a warm fuzzy feeling that spread all the way back in time to my younger self ❤️

    18. In many of these cases the actresses had perms, not natural curls. In the 80s and up until the early 90s it was very popular. Julia Roberts had a perm, for example.
