Great interview Jake! Im a big fan of De Niro's Cape Fear and two episodes into this show I have enjoyed it. I think they've done a great job with making the family seem like a real family with secrets and not like a "movie" family where everyone just hates each other and i've really enjoyed the different take with Max. He has a lot more depth to him than De Niro's Max. De Niro seemed like an unstoppable force of evil in that Cape Fear and Bardem's Max really does seem like someone that is hurt and hard to pin down if he is truly evil or not. So I have enjoyed this swing at Cape Fear so far and look forward to the rest of the season.
Personally, I honestly do not know whether this new TV reintepretation of the two film versions of "Cape Fear" from 1962 and 1991, as well as the original novel of the 1950's that preceded it, would be considered interesting and workable around today, but I hope that it succeeds in the end. Even though I would have liked to watch it at some point, I am not much into streaming anyway. I also think that the casting of the actors for the "Cape Fear" TV remake is rather interesting as well. I am wondering whether Amy Adams in playing the female version of "Sam Bowden" is a stretch after both Gregory Peck and Nick Nolte had played the male leads in the previous film incarnations at all.

As much as I adore Javier Bardem, no one will top Robert Mitchums performance in Cape Fear.
I love ❤️ Javier but I have seen enough Cape Fears and they were all good. I just can’t watch another version of this movie again
