Damian’s Lewis’ psychological thriller The Runner has unveiled an official trailer, ahead of its upcoming release. The movie will arrive on Amazon’s Prime Video on 2 September, streaming globally.
Described as “pulse-pounding”, The Runner centres around “sharp, resourceful, high-powered” lawyer Maia Marten, who has risen to the top of her field at a successful London law firm.
However, her perfect and precise life is turned upside down when she receives a devastating phone call telling her that her son has been taken.

“The instructions to get him back are simple and merciless — keep moving, follow every command, and tell no one. Stop, and he dies,” reads the synopsis. “Forced to sprint through the city and obey a series of sinister commands, Maia must confront an impossible question: how far will she go to bring her son home?
“Set against the backdrop of London’s hyper-connected streets, The Runner is a visceral, high-stakes race where every second counts, every choice carries a price, and a mother’s unstoppable love becomes the most dangerous weapon of all.”
The movie stars Gal Gadot in the lead role, opposite Damian Lewis who plays the sinister caller. Meanwhile, How to Get Away with Murder’s Alfred Enoch and young actor Rory Wilmot also feature.
In the newly released trailer, we get a glimpse of Maia’s structured daily routine, starting with her dropping her son Noah off at school. She then heads off on a run, while preparing for a busy day at work.

However, her exercise is interrupted by call from her son’s phone, with the unknown man telling her Noah has been taken. Soon she is forced on a journey, controlled by the man on the other end of the line, who is acting on behalf of his mysterious boss.
“Today your star witness is going to testify against my employer. But you’re gonna kill him first,” he tells her.
The trailer features an adrenaline-filled montage as distraught Maia races across the city, dodging ambulances and police officers, hoping to save the general public as well as her beloved boy.
The Runner will be available to stream on Prime Video on 2 September.
