I think the general public; or atleast the ones around me ; are ALL rooting for Spain to win because of the bullshit that is Argentina’s playstyle.

Overly physical, rolling around claiming fouls, while simultaneously flagrantly committing handballs and other dangerous fouls. I know the refs are also to blame for not calling them out on it, but Argentina play so dirty that I cannot watch them without getting mad.

Honestly I was I only rooting for Messi. I am not even that heartbroken for Argentina because of how dickish they played. Spain definitely was the better team as well.
They did it in the Rugby too on the weekend against England. Throwing cheap punches, hand bags with England when they scored a try and going after the referee when thats a huge no-no in rugby

Night and day difference between this match and yesterday’s. The third place match seemed to be glowing with general camaraderie from both teams towards one another and we got an excellent, exciting match for it. This game, one of the teams was actively hostile and looking to maximise legal harm and the match was such a snore for it.
We could also talk about how Messi is the captain of 2 teams that have behavioral issues…
For the Messi hard-ons, I’m not saying he isn’t one of the best to ever do the sport. I do question whether he can actually fulfill the role of a captain.
