Are any of the British royal family members actually happy with each other? The public is already well aware of the feud between Prince William and Prince Harry, but new reports indicate that William is now at odds with his father, King Charles.
According to a July 15 report from royal insider Rob Shuter, sources claim that Harry knows about the strain between his brother and their father—and that he may use their fractured bond to his advantage.

“Harry doesn’t just know where the weak spots are—he knows how to use them,” a palace source told Naughty But Nice. “He understands exactly where Charles and William see things differently, and he knows how to put them on opposite sides of the same issue. That’s where he has leverage.”
These differences reportedly surfaced after Charles was diagnosed with cancer. At the time, William took on a “greater leadership role” until his father could return to his full-time duties. Since then, the divide between them has reportedly deepened further, especially since Charles met with Harry and his family during Harry’s visit to the UK in July 2026.

“Harry knew exactly what the optics would be,” a second royal insider said. “A meeting with Charles was always going to infuriate William. Harry understands that his father still thinks like a parent, while William thinks like the future King. Those are two very different mindsets, and Harry knows how to play to both.”
Another source alleged, “Harry knows reconciliation with Charles, even in small steps, puts enormous pressure on William. He understands exactly how those dynamics play out—and he’s prepared to use them when it suits him.”
Insiders further argued that the royal family’s biggest challenge is the “widening gap” between Charles and William. In February 2026, Shuter reported that the two were no longer on speaking terms and described their tension as “worse than they’ve been in years.”
Oddly enough, sources now assert that the relationship between Charles and William has always been far more complicated than that of Charles and Harry. “Harry is emotional, reactive, and predictable,” one courtier broke it down. “William is controlled, strategic — and stubborn. That’s much harder.”
It reportedly all boils down to a power struggle: Charles is in charge now, but William will eventually take over. And it seems both have very different ideas about what leadership means at this moment. “They clash because they’re too similar,” a separate source added. “Both believe they’re right. Neither backs down easily.”
