    1. This is more manufactured than “Barbenheimer” but I don’t think we can avoid “Dunesday” if the media is going to play along.

The only thing this tells me is I shouldn’t go to the movies that weekend because there’s going to be a billion assholes everywhere. I’ll wait until the hype dies out and people can actually sit silently through the movie. Opening weekend for huge blockbusters like this is always annoying AF. People suck.

    3. Why would they do this? I get the Barbie / Oppenheimer thing, but two fantasy action films on the same day?

The thing that worked with Barbie and Oppenheimer is they were so different there was no conflict between the audiences. I have a feeling that Dune is probably just going to eat the Avenger’s lunch.

    5. really wish they didn’t do this. now i’ll have to watch dune on the Friday :\

    6. I’m probably gonna see one on Friday night and the other on Saturday. Would be funny if their first weekend box office were identical.

Dune it is then, and im not even a big fan of the new ones

Why would I want to see a tent pole cgi movie not in Imax?

Maybe doomsday will get some screens later in the run

What’s our opinion on back to back movies? It sounds fun to me but I’d also be scared I wouldn’t appreciate the 2nd movie as much as I should.

    9. December oddly feels like it’s going to be another summer at the cinemas with all these major tentpoles dropping

I’m not sitting through dune after avengers, Avengers is almost 4 hours long.

    11. Barbenheimer: “Finally, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary!”

This is a ridiculous decision, I’ve been a marvel and sci fi fan for most of my life (mid 20s), and I’ll be choosing to see Dune Pt 3 over Avengers just because of quality assurance. Having to choose between two big block buster films doesn’t work when both are in the same genre and both will be about 3 hours long.

    13. I haven’t seen either Dune movie and haven’t watched a full marvel movie since Endgame.

      Winning?

My avengers tickets are for 1pm so that gives me a few hours to grab dinner and catch the 7pm dune.

From watching the 4 minute dune preview, I can already tell dune is going to be the better movie by far.

Eh I never made it through Dune 1 and I liked Dune 2. So as much as I love Zendaya its going be Avengers for me

Doomsday seems like the perfect Disney+ watch a few months after its theatrical run.

Dune Part Three seems like the perfect big screen IMAX cinema experience.

    17. They want people to go see both in one day, but realistically it’s just going to divide who would have seen either on it’s opening day as it will force more people to pick which to see first and which can wait till next time.

    18. Dune will move. Not saying it won’t do well, both Part I and Part II are incredible, but Avengers will dwarf it.

Maybe more a couple weeks before or maybe a month after.

    19. Wow, two movies I don’t care to see released on the same day. I only need to find something else to do that day and life is great.

    20. I know Dune will be fucking legit, and I know none of my friends will see Avengers opening weekend. Pretty easy choice. I’ll wait to see Avengers reviews before deciding if I’m seeing it in theaters.
