Guy is a great actor but he obviously had addiction issues with drinking or something but that’s not an excuse. But two things can be true. He’s not going to beat up Edward Norton or Clooney. In AA there are many cases of men who turned their lives around after years of abusing their loved ones. I’ve met a few outstanding men who are hated by their families for all the pain they inflicted. I’m speculating but this could be one of such cases.
I don’t know what the right answer is but I’m glad I was able to get sober before I got married; most of the pain I inflicted was on myself and some former friends and coworkers. I’ve tried over the years to make amendments with the people that I hurt; but even in the cases of the people who had not forgiven me, at least I know they’re not my children or my wife. So I can (regretfully) move on. I feel for these kids as it must be terrible to be hurt by your own father in a way that is beyond repair.
