NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani on what being a good politician means to him: “I think it means delivering. I think for a long time, being a good politician meant debating. And we [my administration] want it to be something that means something. We want it to be material.”

This guy is great really likin what I’ve seen so far. Hope he keeps it up, we need it!
Where did he come from?? He is like a magic man. He is everything we need right now
He just knows the right thing to say all the time ..
It’s been too long since someone like him has come around
Clone him and replace all other politicians with him immediately.

His stamina is insane. How does he have enough time in the day to be appearing on all these long podcast interviews so frequently while being the Mayor? Does he sleep?
Yes, hes charismatic, charming, great on vertical video blah blah etc. But what so many people miss his ideological north star is so potent, it makes answering questions like this SO easy. He can be so quick and sincere and real because he’s living his truth, and that is what is so rare. Thats what most politicians are lacking.
Not to undercut his chops, he really is a generational talent but the combo of rizz and ideological backbone is staggering.
Abdul has some of this sauce too and DSA is finding a lot of success because people are figuring it out. Its exciting times.
Based.
HOW DARE YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CONSTITUENTS!
YOUR ONLY “MATERIAL” IS SUPPOSED TO BE SOUND BITES TO OWN THE OTHER PARTY!!!
/s just in case.
I love this man but I fear for him. Look at all the good he is doing in NYC. And you know there’s many powerful people who aren’t pleased with him. Scary times to be a good man.
It’s funny you can get almost everyone to agree, but if you say that materialism is a Marxist critic of capitalism. People lose their minds.
People will vote for things like racism and hate, but at the end of the day, even racists gotta eat. A focus on material condition is the best way to unite the working class.
This is not being a class reductionist, I’m not saying abandon minority groups or intersectionality. It’s the opposite in fact. Racism and bigotry thrives in tight economic conditions.
“Your life is shitty, blame brown people.” Is a lot harder to sell when your life isn’t shitty. We see it during say, WW2, the Nazis had no answers for why shit was not great, so they scapegoated minorities, racial, sexual preference, etc.
