News that the show’s co-headliners—Shakira, Justin Bieber, BTS, Madonna and Chris Martin—were not paid performance fees. So why take the stage? The global exposure often leads to a major boost in streams, sales and visibility, but the performance also goes beyond the spotlight. In an Instagram post shared May 14, Global Citizen and FIFA announced that the halftime show would help support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, a charity that raises money to expand access to education and soccer for children around the world. After releasing her World Cup anthem “Dai Dai” earlier this year, Shakira told People that the song is “a message for every child who’s been told that their dream is too big,” adding that every champion starts as a kid who simply had someone believe in them. BTS are doing this for Global Citizen for charity, and they are close friends with Chris Martin. JB and BTS don't need more exposure. BTS just performed in Paris the night before for 92,000 attendees. Two sold out shows of 92,000 capacity. All 88 shows of their stadium tour are sold out in every country. They already broke 2026 tour record with 10 shows. They are also the most stream group on Spotify. They are still on the BB 200 Top 10 for almost 3 months since their album released. So no, they don't need more exposure because I have to fight with millions to get my concert ticket.
