Matt Damon Says He Told Bestie Ben Affleck About His ‘The Odyssey’ Role Before His Wife

“So, I immediately called my wife who was on a Zoom, and so she couldn’t pick up and I called Ben Affleck”, Damon revealed.
The actor said Affleck was thrilled by the casting announcement.
“He freaked out,” Damon shared.
Damon recalled that he spent about 30 minutes on the phone with Affleck before ending the call, only to receive a text message from Barroso shortly afterward.
“I was on the phone with him for about a half an hour and they were at the office in L.A. and then I hung up with him and a minute later my wife texted, like, ‘Why didn’t you tell me first?’” Damon said.
Explaining how the news reached his wife so quickly, Damon added, “Ben had run into her office to tell her.”
Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms.
He tried to tell his wife first but she was busy and didn’t pick up, he then called Ben Afleck. That title is very click bait laced.

Not going to drag him much for this. They’re friends, but they are also both in the industry, so it makes sense to “talk shop” with someone he trusts who perhaps has more insight into what he was getting into.

I thought Ben Affleck did a fantastic job playing the Trojan Horse
He told his life partner first, then his wife. Nothing unusual about that.
