Current Affairs Magazine calling out The Atlantic: ‘As Trump’s anti-left Red Scare escalates, The Atlantic is helping normalize dehumanizing rhetoric by describing socialists as a “parasite.” The Atlantic is a dangerous, reactionary propaganda rag disguised as Reasonable Discourse.’

yeah the DSA is the downfall of the democratic party. not all the useless congresspeople who refuse to work together to stop this train wreck of an administration. totally.

    2. Those DSA wins are really making those DC consultants who sit on their asses doing absolutely nothing sweat big time.

The Atlantic lost the plot a long time ago. They’ve posted some rage bait shit about vaccines too iirc.

    4. We have a sitting senator that is in all likelihood in a vegetative state and his party is willfully concealing that fact until an arbitrary deadline passes in which they can more effectively freeze our functioning democracy from happening… but sure, it’s the *’radical left lunatics’* that are putting this country in danger.

Seriously beginning to think that most liberals are just the moderate wing of fascism. They want change as long as it doesn’t inconvenience them and will tolerate awful shit as long as it’s done the right way and through the proper channels.

    6. The author of this article is a conservative/*transphobe (thanks for the correction crochetblankets!)/anti-Palestine. There is literally zero reason for leftists/liberals/Democrats to take the article seriously, and The Atlantic has allowed themselves to launder this nonsense. Literally the beginning of his wikipedia entry:

      >**James Kirchick** (/ˈkɜːrtʃɪk/; born 1983) is an American reporter, foreign correspondent, author, and columnist. He has been described as a **conservative or neoconservative.**

I canceled my sub after learning the editor used to be in the IOF. Neolib trash

I’ve become so fucking disillusioned by journalism these days. I held out hope for a long time because I’m a naïve dumbass, but when basically every major news outlet reported the FDA “false positive” for Taylor Farms without any relevant context (the White House visit), it fucking broke me. And the “Taco Bell supplier” shit that they’d pull to make it look like Taco Bell was the cause.

Honest question, what is the difference between the DSA and Working Families Party? I get a lot of texts from both

The DSA is just another metamorphosis of political thought. We have gone through several eras in US history where parties and ideals have changed. As certain Republicans love to point out that they were the party that freed the slaves, while the Democrats started the Klan. Which is true, but in reality would be the reverse today.

The two party system is scared and rightfully shitting their pants because they know that change is happening, and it’s happening on both sides of the isle. I think it’s personal fucked that instead calling out the rise of fascism and Nazi ideology in the right we focus on folks who just want to redistribute money and set things right.

Trump and maga are the absolute worst but the old guard democrats are as much to blame.

Mamdani is one of the most popular politicians in years (not just in New York or the US he’s liked universally) and they couldn’t even rally behind him.

      Fuck the lot of them.

    12. Lmao. MAGA hijacked the Rep party so they are yet again projecting how the DCA is hijacking the Dem party. Everyone freaking wishes DCA was able to do that. Instead, we’re stuck with Corporate Dems.

It seems pretty obvious the real parasites are the capitalists selling people on faulty and false promises of comfort and convenience only to bait and switch with death & destruction.

The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as a prison guard at an Israeli military prison holding Palestinian detainees in the late 1980s.(Ketziot Prison). Referring to Jeffrey Goldberg.

Kirchick is a staunch Zionist who championed the Iraq War and attacked Desmond Tutu over his pro-Palestinian activism.

Some of the most heinous shit I’ve ever seen in terms dehumanizing and socially harmful journalism has been from The Atlantic. Sure, NYT is horrendous as well in sanitizing all number of ills and has some of the worst Op-Ed writers of all time, but The Atlantic operates on another level of repugnancy all together.

    16. Somnambulist815 on

The Atlantic embodying the old “Scratch a liberal, find a fascist” maxim

    17. fais_heaux-heaux on

So basically soft launching the idea that certain people shouldn’t be allowed to vote because they keep voting for the wrong people? As an American, love that for us 🫠

    18. Historical-Edge-9332 on

The Democratic establishment politicians are all hardcore conservatives. The Republicans are all evil facists. We literally don’t have a left wing party in America. They’re worried we’re going to stop voting for politicians that enable billionaires.

WITAF. I realize I need to know what neocons think, but…can’t the magazine report on this criticism, instead of serving as a loudspeaker for it?

    20. BadBunny4Prezzie on

Know the enemy. The control of language is the most powerful tool, and the Dems have completely failed at that. IT’s time to cleanse that party and fight back.

    21. No_Measurement9981 on

The Atlantic is the worthless never-Trump organ that glazes Reagan, who is directly responsible for… Trump.

    22. This article really scared me. But he talks about how the Labour party in the UK had to disspell the fringe group in the 80s, but when you look at the Labour party now…what the heck are they doing? I read that Starmer actually was catering to the Tories instead of doing what he was elected to do. I questions what the heck are our Democrats doing now? I trust the DSA candidates will move the needle when they get elected. I like the Atlantic, but this article was more propaganda most likely.

    23. I like the Atlantic & they often publish stuff that is quite critical of Trump. But every now and again they run some terrible garbage like this.

Nothing is scaring the shit out of the establishment like these DSA wins.

Liberals when the fascist right is winning: It’s free speech, we just have to debate them in the marketplace of ideas 😌

Liberals when the socialist left is winning: These PARASITES must be expunged from our ranks. CLEANSE our party of these subhuman creatures

I’ve been a subscriber for over 10 years but I cancelled about a month ago, mostly due to their editor’s ties to the IDF. I’m not entirely surprised he was added to that group chat now.
