Whoa that’s some complex psychological work. Because after decades of having someone around, even if they are sometimes really problematic, there’s also the reliability there due to it becoming a fixture and also a different sense of safety, after 20 some years and this person hasn’t tried to physically hurt you even though there’s an intrusion of privacy and violation in other ways, the fact that in a traumatic scary situation, you still recognize his benign nature relative to someone actually trying to hurt you. So emotionally complex
