Sophie Cunningham doubles down on her transphobia: “I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense. I think it’s really important to protect children… I’m not a very political person.”

it’s actually hard for me to put into words how much i hate a fence-sitter. if you’re left, if you’re right– be that

don’t spend hours posting clip after clip, article after article, regurgitating maga bullshit, and then end every statement with “i’m not political.” if you’re not political, *why are you constantly talking about politics? are you an idiot?*

you’re somehow even worse than the maga people because at least they’re honest about what they believe. you’re not neutral, you’re just spineless

also, it’s funny how many people in the “non-political” group somehow just happen to consistently align with the right

If she’s so worried about “protecting kids” she should be looking at the white House and those ep files.

    3. Yep. She’s a piece of shit. We see you there, being true to that, bitch.

    4. My only consolation is that she must be hated by not only her immediate teammates but nearly every player in the league.

The old “protect the children” excuse for hate. God, I remember Phil Donahue in the 1980s asking his audience if they thought gay people preyed on children, while some gay men sat on stage arguing for their humanity. How appalling to be right back with another ruinous moral panic after all these years.

if you’re not a political person then why tf are you highlighting an issue that politicians love to beat to death. “protect children” from the people who would use a child as a shield.

Is there a more telling comment from someone in this time than “I’m not a political person”

Dangerous rhetoric. Trans kids’ lives are already tough enough. Little kids look up to her. Shame.

She saw how much money Riley Gaines was making, and decided to cash in.

“common sense” “protect the children” and “I’m not political?”

my fascist dog-whistle bingo chart is going crazy

Protecting girls from WHAT. This is such a non issue in the grand scheme of life.

Who is paying her for her media attention?? Guessing some maga billionaire.

The ultimate goal of this is to do away with womens rights. Women’s sports. Using trans people as an easy target and “other”. Imagine selling out and ruining years and years of progress and women who fought for decades to have our rights. Disgusting.

She cares about children while supporting polices being passed by a bunch of pedophiles. Hope they gave her a lot of money and it was worth it.

      “I’m not political…”

But you’ll stand on the shoulders of those who politically fought for your rights before you. You think professional women’s sports happened by accident and generosity of spirit?

      Get the fuck outta here.

    14. innocentsalad on

Children are more likely to be molested by a right-winger than a trans person, guaranteed. But they don’t actually care about protecting children.

    15. ~~who all got that “i don’t support all women” meme to slap onto this post?~~

    16. Ever notice how every time one of these goons says something horrific about trans people/gays/immigrants/people of color they always crouch it in, “I’m not a political person” as if their toxic abhorrent views are perfectly reasonable and everyone calling them out are the extremists.

    17. Oh the old “I’m not very political,” the most convenient side step to be shitty but pretend you aren’t

    18. Princesskapoorkhan on

Yet she hangs out and supports men who abused cis women. Make it make sense

    19. Interesting how none of the abusers on the Epstein files are trans women.

If you to protect children, start by calling out and incarcerating the abusers hiding behind the walls of the White House, Buckingham Palace and churches.

    20. Positive-Thought-328 on

protect children from what exactly? can these people be more specific at least.

    21. lovelysweetangel89 on

“i’m not a political person” = “I’m a right wing shithead that’s afraid of being called a right wing shithead so i cloak it as apolitical”.

It’s always said by people who are always right wing and they always follow it up with right wing talking points.

    22. lemonisveryorange on

Sophie, the funny thing is that the Heritage Foundation also said they were only “protecting women’s sports” with their transphobia. But last week they came out and said actually they don’t think women should play sports at all because it’s not good for their fertility. The end game has always been to get rid of women’s rights and agency…they are coming for you too.

    23. unevercallmesausage on

interesting that she claims to want to protect athletes while proudly being one of the dirties players in the w. who is going to protect women from sophie cunningham when they’re going up for a layup and she throws them to the floor by the neck? she’s on tape performing literal wrestling moves during basketball games. she is more of a danger to athletes than trans women have ever been.
