Chuck Russell, Horror Movie Director, Dead at 74 | E! News

Chuck Russell, the filmmaker behind cult classics including ‘The Mask,’ ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors’ and ‘The Scorpion King,’ has died at age 74. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Russell died unexpectedly on July 22 at his home in San Diego. His wife, Ania Zeyne, told the outlet she found him unresponsive and called 911, but first responders were unable to revive him. “He was such a wonderful guy,” she shared. “He meant everything to me.” He helped revive the ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ franchise with 1987’s ‘Dream Warriors’ before directing 1994’s ‘The Mask,’ starring Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz.
