i wonder if we’ll ever see a carrie who is considered fat and unattractive by society’s standards, rather than someone who still fits the conventional beauty ideal

I have a feeling that Samantha Sloyan is going to crush it as Carrie’s mum.

I’m always seated for anything Mike Flanagan, but man I was really hoping for a book accurate Carrie. Those brief rumors about Milly Shapiro taking the role had me so excited. Can’t wait to watch Samantha Sloyan though, she’s going to kill it.

    4. Mike Flanagan has always been a King fanboy, and I think he can do it justice. It’s still modern American horror

    5. I cant take it seriously when they make Carrie so pretty. They really should have cast a more appropriate actress. In my mind, with the current political climate; it would make more sense to cast a person who doesnt identify with their birth gender, or an immigrant / non white in a predominantly white school. I dont know – just something more realistic than Aphrodite being bullied!!

Its like that Carrie movie with Chloe. She was TOO gorgeous; prettier than any of the other cast members; and you want me to beleive someone that beautiful AND white combined is bullied extensively? lol

Listen, while I think the OG film is a masterpiece, I am excited for this to reach a new audience.

Mike Flanagan knows what he’s doing, and he delivered a wonderful Doctor Sleep. He will continue to do justice to the King universe.

So they made Carrie conventionally attractive again? Why are they even bothering to remake this?

Also, Amazon studios? Modernising the story with social media? Bleh, skip.

Considering it’s a show and not a movie, I’m here for it. Gerald’s Game was really good so Flannigan can write it out

I’m begging Hollywood to stop remaking movies that were already perfect

they’ve remade this movie multiple times and still fail to cast an overweight woman who isn’t conventionally attractive like how the book described her

      how is that even possible

Mike Flanagan is just so wildly overrated and his adaptations in general suck, but his adaptation of female characters is just offensive.

I’m usually excited for a Flanagan show but this is meh for me. Along with it being a non book accurate Carrie the actual acting seems meh. Not hate to the actress but I hope the show has more range than sad face and wide eyes.

Fingers crossed this is just a jump start to adapting lesser known King stories, Carrie has been done to death at this point.

I know it’s a remake, but I get some enjoyment of Carrie coming out swinging. It’s quite vindicating.

Well, Flannigan already turned Shirley Jackson’s masterpiece of dark fantasy into a soppy, feel-good mess. Makes sense his next move would be to remake Carrie with absolutely no new ideas.

If we were gonna get another Carrie retelling I wish they would’ve adapted The Weight of Blood instead 😪

    16. Why does everything have to be a series now? It will probably be okay, but why stretch it to 5x the length?

    17. Nice-Cow-7606 on

      I hate everything about this.

Why will we never see a fat Carrie, the fact she’s fat is a huge part of the book (it’s part of the reason why they chose *pig*’s blood).

Also didn’t Mike say the mom wasn’t going to be as abusive or something weird?
