A historic Kingsclere butcher is set to trade the block for the small screen after welcoming a television personality through its doors.
The village got a taste of showbiz on Tuesday, July 14, when comedian Bob Mortimer popped into The Village Butchers to film scenes for his hit TV show, Gone Fishing.
The hugely popular series follows lifelong friends Mortimer and fellow comedian Paul Whitehouse as they cast their lines in scenic locations across the UK, sharing laughs, life lessons and local delicacies along the way.
The Kingsclere shop, a family-run staple that has served the local community for almost a century, took to social media shortly after the crew wrapped up to share its excitement.
The team posted: “It was all lights, camera and action in the shop this afternoon, we will be featuring on the popular TV series Gone Fishing.
“It was a privilege to meet Bob Mortimer and the team.
“Such a lovely group of people.
“Once we know what episode we are on we shall let you know.”
Known for championing traditional British butchery, premium meats, and locally sourced produce, the shop’s appearance is expected to shine a national spotlight on the village’s thriving independent high street.
While exact broadcast dates remain under wraps, villagers and fans of the show alike will keep a close eye on TV to catch Kingsclere’s very own star turn.
