Stuart Heritage for The Guardian writes:

[…] When these [allegations of sexual predatory behaviour] have been added to archive footage of concerts where Leto has his arms draped around young girls, and talkshow appearances where he brags about sleeping with fans, and one particularly unnerving clip where he quotes the old Dazed and Confused line about high school girls – “I keep getting older but they stay the same age” – the effect is completely disturbing.

So far, Leto has been bulletproof against allegations like these, but you can’t help feeling that this film will land a blow. Of course, it should be noted that the timing of the documentary might help. Leto is no longer the box office draw he once was. Last year’s Tron: Ares reportedly lost somewhere in the region of $130m, and his latest film – Masters of the Universe – is among the biggest flops of the year so far. It isn’t the best reflection of Hollywood that it will only choose to round on alleged sexual predators once the bottom line has been weakened, but better late than never.

I hope this closes the coffin on his career for good this time. He should’ve been done when James Gunn and Dylan Sprouse were open about his disgusting predilections.

How has this man had a career since 2006 when the first allegations against him had come to the surface? Disgusting.

    3. Hollywood’s true dark secret is the system that continually tried to make him happen while knowing he was both an abusive creep AND box office poison.

    4. What is so odd to me about this is that I’ve never met one person who liked/cared about Jared Leto. People will go to bat for other big names who have done awful things. Johnny Depp v Amber Heard divided the internet!

But Jared Leto? As far as I can tell, he doesn’t have some massive fan base. Maybe for his band? I really don’t know. So where has all his power to be protected come from?

Harvey Weinstein was far from the only monster in Hollywood and I remain convinced that he was offered up as a sacrifice so the other abusers could continue on.

    6. Did I read he had some kind of cult now too?

Anyway, random story – one time in high school I went to see 30 seconds to mars (please forgive me – my best friend at the time loved them) and if you bought a piece of merch for at least $20 you got a wrist band to meet the band after. We met the whole band, Jared last in the line, and after he signed my shirt I said thank you, turned to leave, and he said “what? I don’t get a hug?” I was sixteen. At the time I thought omg, this is so cool. Now as a thirty year old, it creeps me out a bit. I know celebrities hug their fans at meet and greets all the time. But knowing he probably did this to everyone is a little…unnerving.

i have known he was a disgusting piece of shit to women since i was 13 on tumblr in 2011 lol i thought this was common knowledge

    8. His creepiness and fondness for young girls and predatory behavior is one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood. How he hasn’t been canceled yet, I have no idea, but hopefully this will finally do it.

    9. He’s like Teflon. He’s had allegations against him since I was in high school, and my 20-year reunion is coming up this year. I’m not shocked that more women have out against him, but I will be shocked if someone finally does something about the allegations.

    10. I don’t know how this isn’t common knowledge already, but then again that’s how I feel with Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, etc

I used to live in SoCal and its was a thing to “never let your kids around Leto, ESPECIALLY your little boys.”
Just sayin. This came from people in the industry.

    12. I’m confused about one thing – I don’t think Leto was ever a box office draw? Even after his Oscar win his next high-profile role was the Joker in Suicide Squad. Nobody liked his performance and it was cited as one of the worst parts of the movie which is saying something.

My heart is with his victims.

It’s baffling to me that he’s never even been the subject of or had to formally address any investigations or charges until now, especially given how known it’s been that he preys on young girls.

This is not news. He’s been a known predator for literal decades. Men just get to do whatever the fuck they want, for real. Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Chris Brown, etc. Western culture idolizes and celebrates sexual predators.

I once saw Jared Leto steal tip money at a diner in a random town. Absolutely true story. It was so random but then I saw his band was in town and performing that night.

    16. This fucking guy has that weird Chris Brown thing. Everyone knows he’s a piece of complete shit, yet here he is, still having a career and celebrity status decades later.

    17. I was half listening to the radio this morning and the morning hosts were going on about “new shocking allegations” and because I was only half listening and because I don’t think of these allegations as new or shocking my brain heard Leno.

That was genuinely shocking to me, lol. I’m not a fan and I know he’s kind of a dick, but sexual assault allegations were a shock. Then they mentioned the band and I realized it was Leto. And I was back to being unshocked.

    18. This was a secret maybe 15 years ago. 10 years ago he was a renowned creep…. But people kept hiring him anyway.

    19. I’m old enough to remember a website in the early 2000s that was just stories of Jared Leto grooming and raping teenagers and young women.
