Disgusting. A friend lost her cousin in the attacks and shared a message today explicitly stating she was honored to have Mamdani at the remembrance ceremony. I thought it was random, but looks like it was in reaction to this. Disappointing and ridiculous that 25 years later, many survivors and victims’ families are still having to put aside their grief to be like “don’t be Islamophobic because of this, Muslims are not at fault.”

On the one hand, thank you to these celebrities for outing themselves as racist, bigoted humans so I now know where they stand on important issues and I can reconsider supporting their work in the future.
