You are correct on the up to 1% additives, and 818 is a brand that chooses to take FULL advantage of that. Tequila, as it was never meant to be enjoyed and completely manipulated by the use of additives.

I come from a country where the average person doesn’t know a lot about western alcohol and all the various brands that are out there. You should try Lynyrd Skynyrd’s new Hellhouse whiskey
No additive tequila is worth it. If you want a female brand tequila get La Gritona. Budget wise, get Cimarron, Arette, El Tequileno, Olmeca Altos
