Gypsy Rose Blanchard Details Working With Kim Kardashian & More in Upcoming Docuseries! | E! News

first of all meeting Kim was a huge honor um she’s a really sweet woman and I really appreciate her taking the time to talk with me um you know we had a lot to talk about um as far as prison reform go goes um I know that she’s done some really amazing things with prison reform um and that’s really close to my heart because I’ve been on that side of of the fence um and so I have some ideas about things and I have things that um are really close to my heart that I really wanted to talk to her about so it it went over really well as for everything else everybody has to watch it you know my story all right now let’s see what I do with my life tell us all about the show and what viewers and sort of fans of your life can expect I think that viewers will see my life from you know the moment that I got out of prison to currently um and I think that people will kind of see everything in a long um broader format because I think people have gotten Snippets of what my life has been like for these last five months um here and there on social media here and there in articles but to actually kind of be in the room and like the fly on the wall that gets to see um the actual events Behind These articles that they’ve read about and actually see it play out um without any discrepancies or any confusion that they they might have about um um a certain topic of what happened did you have this was planned right like this was planned while you were still in prison and you knew that coming out of it you would be making this show correct like it was an it was an extension from the prison confessions so it was like a nice little transition I love it um what made you want to be so open and revealing I would assume that there’s you want people’s opinion of you to to be right but at the same time there’s a part of me that thinks if if I was in your position I would just want to run away and live life and never talk about it ever again so what made you want to be so open um I think that you know at first sharing my story in the prison confession some chipsy Rose Blanchard that was about sharing my story in a way that um I could honestly be really raw with everyone and sharing what I had been through in the last 8 and 1/ half years while I was in prison a lot of people had heard my story before but to actually come in there and get a better understanding of what I was going through um before my parole hearing and so the transition to that I was like at by the end of it all by December I was like I’m so tired of being labeled Gypsy Rose blanter The Prisoner the the girl who M you know who did that to her mom um I was so tired of labels and so I wanted to come out and show the public who I am as a as a person and not a story not a label not this or that but me um and so that drive was why I wanted to do this documentary followup um and now I’m getting to the point where I’m kind of like I feel like I’ve done that I feel like I’ve put my best foot forward with this and what the public takes from that um I hope it’s positive um and and and that’s really all I can do hi Gypsy hi you’re featured on the new season of our card Asians tell me about your time with Kim go goes um I know that she’s done some really amazing amazing things with prison reform um and that’s really close to my heart because I’ve been on that side of of the fence um and so I have some ideas about things and I have things that um are really close to my heart that I really wanted to talk to her about so it it went over really well as for everything else everybody has to watch it okay um did you freak out a little bit about like what were you going to wear to meet Kim Kardashian because she’s such a style icon or were you just like we’re getting into business um you know had a couple of ideas and um I kind of wanted to mix and match two different kinds of material so I did go through my closet being okay this would be nice I love it because whenever I see Kim I’m like what am I wearing am I Fierce enough to be in the presence of uh the queen I mean that’s a huge deal and I love what I love about it when I heard this was happening Gypsy was that it’s two women who everyone thinks they know together to do something and really change the world and these are two very unexpected Heroes do you know what I mean and so I love that you teamed up with her it was it was really um eye openening for me um just because you know you read the headlines you think that you get a sense of who someone is um but meeting her I’m like wow she’s so down to earth and I I didn’t expect that so um well what we didn’t expect was that we did not I didn’t have it on my bingo card that we were getting back together with Ken and here we are so what was the moment what was the moment that you realized you know this is my person and are there any misconceptions about your you know romantic history that you want to clear up um I think uh you know to answer your question of when did I know who’s the one um probably the day I met him back in 2017 um you know we dated for 2 years back in 2017 um some you know things happened that I could it will be revealed on the show actually um that will explain what led to our breakup at that time um and then it wasn’t until you know I’m going through my marriage with Ryan unfortunately that wasn’t working out and Ken and I have kept a friendship this whole time and may have been sparingly here and there but we still remained friends um and it wasn’t until you know I filed for divorce that I kind of really realized that you know that spark that connection um is even better than I expected um and we’ve grown a lot you know I’ve matured he’s grown and so I think right now is the time in our life that it’s the right time right place right everything I can imagine that adjusting back to normal although I don’t think your life has much normal in it but adjusting back to like normal life and normal relationship has got to be very difficult there’s a part in the trailer where you’re like I don’t want to be controlled I don’t want to be told what to do you know you’re sort of living in this world where you need to go out and experience everything as if you were you know like in a teenager like your early 20s and then you have to also you’re expected to be you know this very pull together adult at the same time and I feel like you missed so many of those growing years how do you just handle figuring out how you are in this relationship in this new world in this new fame I think that you know as far as my family is concerned like I don’t have to have it figured out with my family I could just be myself and whatever that means so I could be both of those things and it’ be okay um it’s more the criticism from the public that I get and so I have struggled the last 5 months to kind of figure out like what do you want from me like I am trying to be put together but then I’m trying to have my freedom and I feel like there was no Grace for me um right now trying to figure out who I am trying to figure out the little missteps and and mistakes and learning from them um from the public eye and so navigating that has been damn near impossible and so the only thing I can do is be my authentic self I kind of rais my hands up and said you know what I’m tired of trying to fit myself into a box to appease you I’m going to be myself and if you like me great if you don’t well I don’t know you anyway so it doesn’t bother me any you know you know what you’re not the first celebrity to tell me that and so I think that’s the way you have to live your life when you’re a public figure like that’s that’s just the way it is um and you’re doing a great job so just hang in there and um yeah I I mean and some things that you do are so endearing you made waves on Tik Tok because you went to In-N-Out for the first time what is next on your bucket list my bucket list goodness I haven’t even planned a bucket list my life in the last five months have been so busy that I feel like I crammed like a Year’s worth of stuff in there so I think right now I kind of want the downtime you’re like I just want to rest I tried in and out it was fine now I need to rest right I think I’ll do Applebees or something next week I love it um our our friend at E news Teresa Judi said uh I just saw her a few weeks ago actually and she actually said she really liked prison food after she was released what are your thoughts and what is you know your favorite dish to make using commissary snacks okay so this is where it gets good right um so I would say that um at my County Jail that I went to so not prison but jail had really good breakfast they had really good biscuits and gravy now the prison that I was at their food was very Bland so um a lot of times I cooked via commissary um I would cook pasta salad um chicken cheese rice um I lived off of pasta everything with pasta I’d make homemade mac and cheese cuz we had had a microwave in prison so a lot of times I would just make different things out of that stuff oh my gosh is there any plans for like a pantry prison cookbook where it’s just like all the stuff that’s sitting in our pantry and it’s like microwave only honestly I feel like it would be a bestseller Gypsy that would be cool little more little more flavor um what are your plans for the summer do you take time off I mean you’re obviously promoting this show in a big way but do you get to take a vacation do you get some time off um yeah I mean as for a vacation I don’t really know I don’t have any plans uh Miss serly for the summer um pen is moving to New Orleans so um we’ll probably do some stuff around New Orleans um and definitely hang out um I think my dad wants to take me fishing so I mean you know it it’s kind of to the wind right now but I know it’s going to be a good summer I love it um you know every time June and June 9th rolls around I’m sure that you have a mix of uh really intense emotions how do you mark the occasion what do you do to stay okay and you know what what do you think your mom would think of all of this now um I think that you know when June 9th comes around every year um I find myself in a very depressive State it’s a hard day for for me um some days what I do is I listen to music I listen to some of her favorite songs and I allow my myself that time to grieve um and I do it privately because I I don’t want to be judged so that’s something that I do for myself and then um also leaning on family and and Ken has done this with me a lot over the years is um having a said a prayer for my mom and just thinking about the good times the good things kind of blocking out all of the negative and just honoring her memory in that way I love that um what do you think she would think of how strong you are now in this I I would hope that you know I have come to a level of of forgiveness with her and I would hope that wherever she is you know I I am a spiritual person I am a religious person and so I hope that she is is in heaven and I hope that she could look down on me and see me as a woman that has grown from her circumstances um and so it’s kind of like hopefully that Mutual forgiveness has happened um and I mean I feel like a lot of people don’t understand that because it’s like if you were a psychiatrist you’d get it but the general public doesn’t understand that level of like connection um how complex that connection is well complex is the word I always use like there’s there’s probably nothing more complex in the world than what you went through and the fact that you have so much grace and that you’ve come out the other side and are setting up a a wonderful successful happy life for yourself is a miracle um and so I think you know just remember that people are really proud of you um and even though the haters are loud on the internet that the general public I think they really feel for you and they feel like what you’ve been through and I think there’s a lot of people that are really excited to watch this show and watch you get back to life and living and so thank you for opening your life um up in this way for viewers and and I really appreciate the time to talk to you for E news um hopefully we can meet see you in person at some point too but um this is amazing and congratulations we’re really
