Also, there was never a romance between Balian and Sibylla. Balian was married to her step-mother, Maria Komnene, after Sybilla’s father, King Amalric died in 1174. Balian & Maria had 4 kids.

Historically inaccurate? Sure. But the story explores fantastic ideas of how to approach religion and the practice of it. Valuing being a good person above all else. Which is ironically what many religious people miss.

At least the villains acted slightly kind when they stole that city from the people who loved there. The Crusades were absolutely justified (even though horrible deeds were done in their name, and the Fourth Crusade was a total abomination from start to finish)
