Never understood why she thinks 3% of the world speaks Afrikaans. South Africa is only 60M people (0.75% of world). Add all of Belgium and the Netherlands (who speak Dutch and might understand Afrikaans) and you're only around 1%.

Something like this happened to my White Ass in Japan. This mother and her son were making fun of how big my feet were and I leaned in and said in perfect Japanese I can understand everything you say, be careful. They were so embarrassed they ended up apologizing and buying me some dango when we ended up getting off at the same stop. I have a Bachelor's in Japanese and have taught English to Japanese students in college on exchange. You gotta be careful. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it.
