I wasn’t a huge fan of how the films portrayed Hermione compared to the books but I don’t think that was Watson’s fault. That’s just how the director and producer collectives of the franchise decided to portray her.

Needing more direction doesn’t mean someone is a bad actor or actress. It might mean that someone is a bad director. Everyone in Disney’s The Little Mermaid (2023) needed better direction than they got for that movie.

I disagree. Early on (the first three films), I would say she was leagues better than Rupert and Daniel (especially Daniel). The other two took time to catch up.

I have to say that, although I did enjoy her in Harry Potter, I still have to see exceptional work from her. In other films, she is an okish to good enough actress. Certainly not exceptional.

I disagree fishing in a dead man's diary for clickbait. If Rickman felt his assessment should be made public, he would have did so himself. Total scumbaggery even to repeat the quote.
He did not said she was a bad actor, just the diction is overdone for him. Some of you all are hating him for having an opinion when Emma literally said in the HP reunion that she liked how Alan took her (and the other child actors) seriously, probably meaning that they talked about it before.
Daniel also reacted to that specific entry and just laughed, saying how he loved how Alan was just freaking out on their acting when they were children. So its more like a joke for them. You never really can tell whether Alan is joking or not, he has that dry sense of humor. You can maybe tell when he speaks the words but this is literally an entry on his diary, words on a book. Stop bashing this wonderful man and let him rest in peace. It's been 9 years, get a life.

She was always a bad actress. Her idea of emoting was to raise her eyebrows up and down, and she never improved. And yes, her diction was terrible.

Ummm… he didn"t say she was a bad actor. Putting words into a guy who is dead , is crazy af. He said she needed direction, which is very common for MANY younger actors.
