It has been nearly two years since Prince William and Kate Middleton took a trip abroad together as part of their royal duties—and it seems the public will have to wait a little longer for it to happen again.

On March 12, it was confirmed that the Prince of Wales will travel to Estonia on March 20 and March 21 in support of British troops stationed at the frontline of Nato’s defense against Russia, The Telegraph reported. William will visit the Mercian Regiment in his role as their Colonel-in-Chief. While there, he will meet with the president of Estonia, join soldiers for a field training exercise, and visit a school for displaced Ukrainian teachers and children.

It will be William’s first trip to Estonia, and a palace source said the visit will demonstrate the “close relationship between the Crown and armed forces,” which is extremely close to the prince’s heart and extremely important in his role. Though it’s William’s first time visiting Estonia, William’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth visited in 2006, his father King Charles visited in 2001, and his younger brother Prince Harry visited in 2014.

The last time William and Kate traveled abroad together in an official capacity was to Jordan in early June 2023, when they attended the Jordanian royal wedding. Prior to that, the couple visited Boston in December 2022 in support of William’s Earthshot Prize, and their last royal tour was a full three years ago this month, when they visited Belize, Jamaica, and Barbados in support of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
