James Middleton’s tribute to his wife, Alizée, on Mothering Sunday showed that their baby son, Inigo, has her blonde hair, which is also a trait from the Middleton side of the family.
Mother’s Day, known as Mothering Sunday in the U.K., fell this year on March 30. To celebrate the occasion, James, 37, posted a new photo of his wife holding their 1-year-old son and shared a sweet message.
“Happy Mothers to all the amazing Mothers but an extra bit of love for this one,” he captioned the snap on Instagram, adding emojis of a heart and flower bouquet.
The shot showed Alizee and Inigo coordinating in cozy sweaters as she held him in a field. The financial technology analyst had her long blonde hair pushed back in the picture confirming that Inigo’s hair is also the same color.
James is the younger brother of Kate Middleton, and it’s a little-known fact that the siblings and their sister, Pippa Middleton, had light-colored hair when they were children!
A throwback photo released by the Middleton family ahead of Kate’s wedding to Prince William in 2011 showed that she and Pippa both had golden blonde hair as little girls.
More recently, another childhood picture that James posted with Princess Kate, 43, revealed that he also had blonde hair as a boy.

“Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will climb this one with you too,” the entrepreneur wrote below an undated snap with his eldest sister on Instagram on March 22, 2024. James shared that tribute a few hours after the Princess of Wales, 43, announced that she was undergoing treatment for cancer in a diagnosis she described as “huge shock.”
From there, the royal reduced her duties to focus on her health. She shared in September that she completed chemotherapy treatment, relayed on Jan. 14 that she is in “remission” and has seemingly returned to work in full force since.
In fact, Princess Kate has surprised many palace insiders with her vigorous return to work. While some speculated that her public appearances would remain limited and alongside Prince William, she defied expectations with a string of solo engagements at the start of the year.
“She is the MVP of the royal family, and no one knew when she was going to come back,” royal historian Amanda Foreman tells PEOPLE.

The princess is also managing the growing expectations tied to her future role as Queen, balanced alongside prioritizing her health and young family with William. The palace continues to exercise caution around her schedule, announcing her appearances close to the time and emphasizing that her recovery remains priority.
“She has been very good at managing expectations, and it’s wise for her to downplay it a bit because when she does more than people anticipated, it has a greater impact,” says Sally Bedell Smith, the royal biographer behind the Substack Royals Extra. “It’s evident that she is feeling closer to 100 percent than one would have thought at this stage.”

On Mothering Sunday, Princess Kate wrote about how nature has been a solace for her family. The Prince and Princess of Wales share children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, and she shared footage from the intimate video they were in that she released about completing chemo.
“Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary,” Princess Kate wrote below. “This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and recognize how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life,” she wrote, signing “C” as shorthand for Catherine, her first name.
