Shedeur Sanders Gets Apology After NFL Prank Draft Call | E! News
Jax Olrich is publicly apologizing to Shadur Sanders. In case you missed it, the former University of Colorado football player whose father is Colorado head coach and pro football hall of famer Dion Sanders was on the receiving end of a prank call during the 2025 NFL draft April 25th. During the call, Jax, the son of Atlanta Falcons defense coordinator Jeff Olrich, pretended to be the general manager for the New Orleans Saints, offering a fake spot on the team before abruptly hanging up. Stunt was posted on the YouTube page of Shador’s brother, Dion Sanders Jr., you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer, man. Okay. Sorry about that. Ready to go. What does that mean? What? What did he say? I don’t know. Are you going to ask us what it mean? And you was on the phone. You heard that? You said you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer. Sorry about that. What the? Two days later, Jax issued a public apology for the stunt. He writes on Instagram, April 27th, quote, “On Friday night, I made a tremendous mistake.” Shadore, “What I did was completely inexcusable, embarrassing, and shameful.” He continues, quote, I’m so sorry I took away from your moment. It was selfish and childish. I could never imagine getting ready to celebrate one of the greatest moments of your life and I made a terrible mistake and mess with that moment. Thank you for accepting my call earlier today. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. Per CNN, Jax acquired Shador’s phone number which only NFL personnel were supposed to have access to. And per a statement from the Falcons, Jax’s dad, Jeff, was quote unaware of the data exposure. In an April 26 phone call with the media per CNN, Shador says about the prank, quote, “It didn’t really have an impact on me because it was like I mean, okay, like I don’t feed into negativity or I don’t feed into that stuff. You’ve seen on Dion Jr.’s YouTube video my reaction to it. It is what it is.” I think of course it is childish. Of course, I feel like it was a childish act, but everybody does childish things here and there. [Music]

Happened to 19 players this year — To be sure, among the 19 were Ty Warren the #14 pick most notibly a white player. Cooper De Jean last year, again a white player and the first white player in 20 years to be drafted at Cornerback, were 99% of players are black. That Cooper Dejean call was perceived as a much more nefarious call because people beleive that "whites" CANNOT play the position of cornerback. This is all easily veriable btw. Again, Shaduer will be fine.

Apparently he's not the only one who has been pranked. Mason Graham, Tyler Warren, Kyle McCord and Cooper DeJean was also pranked in the 2024 draft.
