Taylor Swift Buys Album Masters After Years-Long Music Battle | E! News

Are you ready for this Taylor Swift news? After a year’sl long battle to obtain the master recordings of her first six albums, Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation, the Shake It Off singer made a deal with Shamrock Capital to officially own all of her music. She announced May 30th. The Grammy winner shared a letter to her website, writing, quote, “All of the music I’ve ever made now belongs to me.” Taylor first addressed the battle in 2019 after learning Scooter Bronze Ithaca Holdings LLC had purchased her record label Big Machine for a reported 300 million, gaining the rights to her albums. The following year, Scooter, who Taylor previously accused of bullying her, and his company sold Big Machine label group to Shamrock. Taylor, now signed to Republic Records and Universal Music Group, continued her letter, quote, “And all my music videos and all the concert films, the album art and photography, the unreleased songs, the memories, the magic, the madness, every single era, my entire life’s work.” Amid this journey, Taylor has re-recorded her albums of Fearless, Speak Now, Red, and 1989, all Taylor’s version. Plus, she dropped new albums Lover, Midnights, and the tortured poets department. Despite any bad blood over the master battle, Taylor found comfort in revisiting her early music. She said in a November 2022 message shared to X, quote, I have recently begun re-recording my older music, and it has already proven to be both exciting and creatively fulfilling. She continues, quote, I have plenty of surprises in store. I want to thank you guys for supporting me through this ongoing saga, and I can’t wait for you to hear what I’ve been dreaming of. [Music]

Guys since Taylor now finally owns all her music we should make it the swiftie independence day! Like the start of the war was when (yk who) stole her albums, and each of the releases is like the battles she won, and now she finally won the great war!!

    2. As a Swifty, I wonder how this might affect the last two albums still left to be re-recorded although now we’ve just found out that basically there’s no real deadline for reputation Taylor’s version and Taylor Swift Taylor’s version. If those trademark extensions expire in August, she can basically file a new application And get it over with without having to race against the clock. but there might be hinting at double licensing for her music to be used and that way she has ownership of all six albums twice.

    3. You forgot to mention the albums, Folklore and Evermore. So along with re-recording 4 albums she recorded 5 new ones. One of them, TTPD, is a double album. That’s, literally 10 albums along with doing a two year world tour that broke all records …. Oh, I almost forgot she has re-recorded Debut as well so make that 11 since taking control of her art in 2019.

    5. But ok also first of she shouldn't have called her tour the earas tour bc there are musician way bugger way talented than her and they should and could have named they're tour too like that hut its not theyre fault that this skinny bunny face and mouth thinks she's all it when she's not lol

    6. She's a genius. She rendered the sale of those albums as valueless by releasing the Taylor's Versions. There was no reason for Scooter or Shamrock to keep the masters when they couldn't make a buck off of them. They shouldn't have had them in the 1st place.

    8. Love that she’s not for everyone will never understand the negative comments I’ve been seeing on facebook about this people seem to think she sold them

    9. This is about Taylor. Not about artists. Don't buy into this any other way. Taylor wants it all, and she certainly is good with taking care of people so that's not the point. Save your money, and invest. In the end you'll thank me. Taylor has a billion+. It's enough.
