Lester Holt Signs Off From NBC Nightly News | E! News
After 10 years, this is my last nightly news broadcast. As anchor, it has been an honor to lead this program and an honor to be welcomed into your homes. Lester Holt signing off one last time from NBC Nightly News. The longtime anchor who announced in February he was stepping down from the desk, brought behindthe-scenes staff on stage for an emotional goodbye. I’m so grateful for your trust. around here. Facts matter, words matter, journalism matters, and you matter. I’ll miss our evenings together, and I will miss the team that puts it all together. My dear friends and my colleagues, please continue to take care of yourself and each other, and I’ll do the same. The 66-year-old’s already detailed his next chapter, a full-time role at the network’s true crime mainstay, Deline. Meanwhile, Lester shared encouragement to his replacement at NBC Nightly News. correspondent turned new anchor Tom Yamis. I just want to say thank you to my incredibly supportive and patient family and all of you. NBC Nightly News with Tom Yamis premieres Monday and I wish Tom great success. The broadcast turned into a celebration of Lester’s tenure with a movie montage showcasing his decade of reporting coverage from on the ground war zones to sitting across world leaders. It has been quite a ride. Thanks everybody. [Music]
Lester Holt shared a special message for ‘NBC Nightly News’ viewers as he signed off for the final time. The news program’s longtime anchor, who’s shifting to a full-time role at ‘Dateline,’ also invited his crew on stage, before sharing a montage of memorable moments across his decade-long tenure.
