Billy Joel Details Suicide Attempts After Affair With Friend’s Wife | E! News

    billy Joel is reflecting on a dark chapter in his life In his documentary Billy Joel and So it goes the piano man singer reveals he attempted suicide twice after his affair with his former bandmate’s wife came to light According to the 76-year-old he and his close friend John Small who originally met in 1965 formed their rock band called Attilla in 1969 And as the band began to make waves in New York he moved in with John his then wife Elizabeth Weber and their son Eventually Billy and Elizabeth had an affair The musician says in the documentary which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival June 4th per magazine “I felt very very guilty about it They had a child I felt like a home wrecker I was just in love with a woman and I got punched in the nose which I deserved John was very upset I was very upset.” The former couple’s split took a toll on Billy as he moved out of J’s home and started drinking He also reunited with Elizabeth years later and the two got married in 1973 before calling it quits in 1982 But despite rekindling their romance the guilt from their previous affair still affected him Billy says in the dock “I had no place to live I was sleeping in laundromats and I was depressed to the point of almost being psychotic So I figured that’s it I don’t want to live anymore I was just in a lot of pain.” The rock singer tried to end his life by consuming an entire bottle of sleeping pills which led him to being in a dayslong coma He then drank a bottle of the cleaning solution Pledge which led Jon who still wasn’t on good terms with Billy at the time to take him to the hospital Billy notes in the documentary “Even though our friendship was blowing up Jon saved my life.” The former friends eventually reconciled Shortly after his second hospitalization Billy checked himself into an observation ward for several weeks a decision that helped him connect with music again He explains of his healing journey “I got out of the observation ward and I thought to myself you can utilize all those emotions Channel that stuff into music [Music]

    1. This is some top tier rage bait. Let me get this straight. Buddy let's him live in his home and bill thanks him by stealing buddy's wife. The mother of his child. At a time when they were coming up and bill probably could have chosen from a lot of women that weren't the wife of his 'friend'. Then after the affair gets exposed bill is most affected. Buddy saves bill's life after the attempt. Bill feels so guilty about the situation that he marries the woman later. Covertnarcissistsayswhat. "I felt like a home wrecker". Yeah well that's because he is one. F that dude and his lame music. Good rage bait though E should help him sell books.
