Project Runway Alum Arthur Folasa Ah Loo Dies in Protest Shooting | E! News

a former Project Runway contestant was killed in Utah amid the No Kings protests according to a press release from the Salt Lake City Police Department an innocent bystander at the No Kings demonstration in downtown Salt Lake City was shot and killed Saturday June 14th the release states that 39-year-old Arthur Felasa Aloo died in a local hospital and notes that detectives believe Aloo was at the demonstration as a bystander and was not the intended target of the gunfire according to Forbes Aloo known by his family and friends as AFA was a Samo and fashion designer aloo established Creative Pacific a nonprofit organization that hosts events celebrating Pacific Island culture he was a contestant on season 17 of Project Runway finishing 13th in 2019 and had designed for Moana actress Ali Kvalo in the past who would have thought that this island boy growing up in Samoa in a hut would design something that was in LA Fashion Week Australia Fashion Week and in the Buckingham Palace per the press release police have arrested 24year-old Arturo Gamboa following the incident he was booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on a murder charge according to NBC News it was not immediately clear whether Gamboa is still in jail and whether he has an attorney also detained June 14th were two men who were part of the event peacekeeping team one of the peacekeepers fired the shot that fatally injured Aloo police say and while Gamboa did not fire the shot that fatally struck Aloo he still faces the murder charge because detectives developed probable cause that Gamboa acted under circumstances that showed a depraved indifference to human life knowingly engaged in conduct that created a grave risk of death and ultimately caused the death of an innocent community member according to authorities they found Gamboa who was crouching amid a group of people and had a gunshot wound himself he had an AR-15 style weapon nearby officers also found a gas mask black clothing and a backpack nearby as well it was not immediately clear whether the two peacekeepers will face charges per NBC News the state medical examiner’s office will determine Aloo’s official cause and manner of Death [Music]
