Eric Dane Shares He Has One Functioning Arm Amid ALS Diagnosis | E! News

i have one functioning arm eric Dayne is sharing an update on his health battle two months after the Grey’s Anatomy alum revealed he was diagnosed with a myotrophic lateral sclerosis also known as Lou Garri’s disease eric now shares during an interview with Diane Sawyer that as a result of the degenerative disease he only has quote one functioning arm i have one functioning arm my dominant side is your right side yeah my left side is functioning my right side is completely completely stopped uh working and then your left arm is fine no it’s going yeah I feel like maybe a couple few more months and I won’t have my left hand either it’s sobering and the 52-year-old who shares kids Billy and Georgia with wife Rebecca Gayheart goes on to detail his first symptoms and the long road to receiving a diagnosis where did it begin i started experiencing some weakness in my right hand and I I didn’t really think anything of it um at the time i thought maybe I’d been texting too much or my hand was fatigued but a few weeks later I noticed it had gotten a little worse so I went and saw a hand specialist who sent me to another hand specialist i went and saw a neurologist and the neurologist sent me to another neurologist and said “This is way above my pay grade.” Finally he was informed that he had ALS which has proven to present the Euphoria actor with a surreal reality i will never forget those three letters it’s on me the second I wake up it’s not a dream it’s not a dream but as he continues down this journey with his diagnosis Eric shares that the last several months has only strengthened his bond with wife Rebecca who filed to dismiss their 2018 divorce case this past March we have managed to become um better friends and better parents and she is my probably my biggest champion and my my most stalward supporter um and I lean on her [Music] [Music]
