Did Kanye West Really Change His Name Again? Here’s the Truth | E! News

kanye West is setting the record straight on his name While it initially appeared that the rapper who legally changed his name to Yay nearly four years ago had changed his name once again this time to Yay his team is setting the record straight In a statement to US Weekly June 16th Kanye’s rep says quote “There’s no Yay.” Adding that the confusion around his name was quote an oddity created by an online form that required something in both firstname and last name fields The confusion arose after Yay’s chief financial officer referred to the gold digger rapper as Yay in multiple filings sent to the California Secretary of State In the documents which concerned Kanye’s businesses and were obtained by ENews on June 10th the manager or member of his companies was listed as Yay Yay previously shared insight onto how he landed on the moniker of Yay noting that it’s the most commonly used word in the Bible telling radio host Big Boy in a 2018 interview quote “In the Bible it means you So I’m you I’m us It’s us.” It went from Kanye which means the only one to just yay Just being a reflection of our good our bad our confusion everything That same year Yay who shares Kids North Saint Chicago and Psalm with ex-wife Kim Kardashian even named his eighth studio album Yay because it was more of a reflection of who we are He adds quote “I wanted something that felt with the energy just with what the universe has given me I wanted something that matched that [Music]
