Bryan Kohberger Pleads Guilty in Idaho Murder Case | E! News

Did you uh kill and murder Ethan Chapen, a human being?
    Yes.
Brian Coberger is pleading guilty to the 2022 murders of Kaylee Gonzalez, Madison Mogan, Xanna Kernodal, and Ethan Chapen, as well as one count of burglary at a July 2nd hearing in Idaho. When asked by District Court Judge Steven Hiper if Brian killed each victim willingly, unlawfully, deliberately, and with premeditation and malice, with forethought, he replied with a strong yes. Did you uh on November 13th, 2022 enter the residence at 1122 King Road uh in Moscow, Idaho with the intent to commit the felony crime of murder?
Yes. Did you on November 13th, 2022 uh in Lac County, state of Idaho, uh kill and murder Madison Mogan, a human being?
Yes. And did you do that willfully, unlawfully, deliberately, and with premeditation and malice of forethought?
Yes. Did you honor about that same date in uh Moscow, Idaho, um kill and murder Kaye Gonzalez, a human being?
    Yes.
And did you do that willfully, unlawfully, deliberately, and with premeditation and malice of forethought?
Yes. And did you on that same date in Moscow, Idaho, kill and murder Xanna Kern Kernodal, pardon me, a human being?
Yes. And did you do that willfully, unlawfully, deliberately with premeditation and malice of forethought? Yes. And then on uh or about November 13th, 2022, again in Le County, Idaho, did you kill and murder Ethan Chapen, a human being?
Yes. News of the plea deal came on June 30th when an attorney for Kayle’s family confirmed that prosecutors had struck an agreement with Brian in exchange for him pleading guilty to murder charges and waving his right to appeal. At the time, the Gonzalez said they were beyond furious with the outcome, alleging they had previously given prosecutors a hard no when the possibility of offering Brian a plea deal was suggested to the victim’s families. Kayle’s family said in a June 30th Facebook post, “They were pushing for the death penalty.” Writing, “Unfortunately, all of our efforts did not matter. We fought a long battle, but we lost the war.” Likewise, Zana’s loved ones were also upset over the news of the plea deal with her aunt Kim Kernodal telling TMZ that the family wanted to see Brian go to court. Prior to accepting his plea deal, Brian was scheduled to stand trial on August 18th. E-News previously reached out to Law County Prosecutor’s Office but did not hear back. [Music]

    1. Kohberger pleading guilty on all counts to avoid the death penalty means life sentence without parole—but two families say the plea was imposed without their input. That sense of being silenced is heartbreaking alongside the legal certainty 📜

    2. OLD LACKLUSTER PROSECUTOR. THEY ARE HUGE COWARDS! AND JUDGE STEVEN HIPPLER SHOULD RESIGN. HE PLAY GOD. IT'S WHAT HE DID. AND HE WAS VERY RUDE TODAY TOO WITH THE FAMILIES. HE TALKED WITH SUCH SUPERBIA. SHAME ON HIM. WHAT THEY DID TO THE FAMILIES IS TREASON. AND WHAT THEY DIDN’T DO IT’S TOO DISGUSTING AND SICKENING. THESE ARE THE MOST COWARDLY PROSECUTORS WHO HAVE EVER SET FOOT IN A COURTROOM. AND THE JUDGE HIPPLER PLAYED GOD. SHAME ON THEM. THOSE FOUR VICTIMS WILL HUNT ALL OF THEM FOREVER BECAUSE THEY WENT BEHIND THE BACK OF THE FAMILIES AND NEGOTIATED THIS DIABOLICAL PACT THAT ONLY BENEFITED THIS DEMONIC MURDERER. PROSECUTORS COULD HAVE FORCED KOHBERGER TO EXPLAIN WHAT WENT DOWN AND WHY IF HE WANTED THAT DEAL. BUT NOT EVEN THESE PROSECUTORS DID THAT FOR THE FAMILIES.

FIRST, DEATH PENALTIES ARE ON THE BOOKS FOR A REASON. THAT'S TO PROVIDE A DETERRENT FOR PEOPLE LIKE THIS PSYCHOPATH FROM KILLING INNOCENT, YOUNG PEOPLE. SECOND, IF PROSECUTORS KNOW THEY HAVE A CASE TO WIN, THEY DON’T SELL THEIR SOULS TO A PERSON LIKE KOHBERGER? THEY TAKE IT TO TRIAL AND GET THE CONVICTION FOR THE FAMILIES. THAT’S THEIR JOB AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY. THEY FAILED EVERYONE BUT KOHBERGER AND HIS DEFENSE LAWYERS. THEY SIDED WITH THE DEVIL, AND NOW, THESE FAMILY MEMBERS WILL NEVER GOING TO REALLY KNOW WHY THIS PSYCHOPATH DID WHAT HE DID.
